    It still haunts me

I have to get this off my chest.
I am referring to the Tony Lockett ill-fated comeback.
I know it was over a year ago now and maybe i should move on, however this man is the greatest footballer i have ever witnessed.

There are a few reasons why the comeback wasn't a success.

    - Media Scrutiny: They all wanted to see the great man fail.

    - Rodney Eade: He was against the comeback right from the word go.

    - Injury: The injury he sustained against Brisbane was one that kept him out for an extended period of time. When he came back and played for Port Melbourne he was noticebly underdone, but showed he still had something to offer the club.

Had Roos been coach last year, I believe the story would have been different, and 'plugger' would have been sensational for the football club.

If he is not named as full forward in the team of the century, it is a joke. He is the best football ever to pull on a boot.

I think he was definatley one of the greatest. It's a pity though , that we became so predictable though with him. I think we can be a better team with out him, strangley enough. Plugger needed a real good CHF and two great crumbers. We had i crumber with him but no chf. The midfeilders were too aware of him, and the other forwards were too scarred to get in his way. we were far too predictable. all other teams had to do was double tag Tony and keep him at 5 goals or under and they were a good shot at beating us.
I rember when Goodes marked right in front of plugger in his (Goodes ) first year. It was such a releife to see that kind of effort from a swan. they had all become too timid around the great man.
It is far better to have a team of very good players who respect each other, than a few superstars who intimidate the others.
plugger had to go and really should not have come back.

How can you say that footyhead?

Every year, outside the first, that he was at the club, we made the finals. We played in a Grand Final. Surely that tells you that we were a better side with him, and for that matter he is the greatest goalkicker of all time, i know I'd like to have him in the side.
