    Are we a good side...?

With everyone writing us off and saying teams like cats the saints lost rather than we won, it feels asif we don't deserve to be winning. Any one else feel it.

The vibe i've felt in the last few years is that we are an ok side over performing in the finals. This can reflect back growing up through 3 wooden spoons then going on in 96 from 12th to 1st and similar in 2003.

I still feel asif this is a one off and any moment now we will crash back to earth. Yet finally what can be our best 3 years for the last 70 years we can be a genuine consistent finals contender and hopefully we can produce an era where there is expectation and promise that a grand final birth is not far away (ala bombers).

Thats the thing, the swans are rarely expected to do well and when we do, there is little confidence (from the media) and respect that we can produce sustained success.

13 wins 3 losses in the last 16 weeks. Biggest loss is 7 points against adelaide after kicking 1.6 in the last quarter. Dodgy umpiring against WC at subi lost by 4 points and a 1 point loss to Richmond after comming from 45 points down in the 3rd quarter..

    Yep we are ordinary.

I think the Cats lost. But we won against the Saints. We ran over the top of them and injuries were not an excuse as their midfield was quite fit and had an extra week off!

Let's face it, any non-Victorian team that makes the GF is pretty ordinary...especially so if they make the finals consistently. The only really good Swan's team, surely, was the one we had when Buckanara/Kinnear were coaching the side...that was where we belong...
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

          SWANS 2005 ARE TOPS!
          1. Totally focussed on the footy: really like the way players had been saying "it's about today, it's about securing best spot on the ladder, it's about not letting the boys down, it's about making up for a mistake, it's about next week's game, it's about one step closer"
          2. Amazing maturity in pressure situations: haven't seen the team lose their heads or their way too much. Goodes brilliant behind, ablett n hall play on to force the ball-up agst Geelong amazing! Plus picking themselves up and finishing 3rd place
          3. Toughness: hard footy week in week out. Fave moments we're Micky-O laying a shirt front on Gehrig and actually causing him to step back (watched it about 8 times) AND his tackle on Harvey to force the spill that lead to a goal...Brilliant. Crouchy is the Eveready Bunny and Kirky is awe-inspiring, Buchanan, Bolton, Barry, Kenelly at it week after week after week. This has epitomised the swans for a number of years. And we how have....
          4. Superb, diverse, amazingly talented forward line: multi-pronged, multi-talented, multi-multi'd forward line with loads of scoring options.
          5. Dignity: gutted to lose at Subi - didn't make excuses and made sure they took their chances agst Geelong AND the Saints
          6. Love: they love their coach, they love their mums, they love their city, love their fans, love the history and heritage of the club and they LOVE each other.

Really well-rounded, focussed, passionate team = Premiership!

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

They did - because they decided to play us at our own man-on-man game. And they did it beter than either Sydney or the Crows could do it. But they didn't realise how tiring it is to maintain so ran out of puff. And we ran over them.

It'll be interesting to see what game plan the Weagles arrive at the MCG with. Whichever, I think (credit to who on the team said it in the past fortnight) that whoever we play, we control the tempo. And that gives us control.

We didn't run over Geelong. Davis beat them with a freakish display and they ran out of players.

                  We ran over St Kilda.

The last quarter was largely played in our attacking 50. By flooding they were able to hold us back except for some great skills by Nicky D. But if you don't think they weren't trying to avert calamity, you weren't watching the same game I was. Similiarly, we could be talking about how we ran over the Eagles at Subi to win in the last few minutes if not for the great efforts in defence by Cox.

They went defensive and ran out of players - this is why they lost (+ Davis). I don't think that equates to us 'winning' it by running over the top of them.

Yep, we are rubbish. I am sick of paul roos ruining this club and he should be sacked. The way we play will never bring us success in september and we should all jump on board an exciting team like the bulldogs or richmond or the bombers.

Lets face it, we only won all those games in the last half of the season because the AFL and demetriou wanted us to. They proped us up with handouts and concessions (I'm not sure of the details on how it works but I read it on saintsational.com so it must be true). We only beat Geelong because they decided they didnt feel like winning the match and unlike us were unselfish enough to roll over. We only defeated St. Kilda because they decided to field a team that was not fully rested and fit after a terribly arduous and draining two weeks holiday.

And if we win the GF this week it will only be because the eagles cant win on the G and any other team in the AFL would have defeated us there.

It's the concessions don't you know?

And the AFL conspiracy to "hand the swans a flag".

Mcinerney and maclaren must have missed the memo

Conspiracy clearly not working. They have had since 1982 to
give the Swans a flag. We will just have to go and win it
                            ourselves.
