I would say more than that. 72 years without a flag will have almost all the neutrals cheering our boys on. Consider - since we won our last flag in 1933, we have competed in five senior and five reserves Grand Finals and lost them all.

Do you remember the 1995 Reserves Grand Final? North Melbourne vs Sydney. I swear, whenever we got the ball forward in the last quarter it sounded like an Eagles home game. Our club being the only club that never won a reserves premiership would have had something to do with it.

As to why the Swans are disliked, there's some anti-Swans fervour stirred up by some who view the 15% cost of living allowance in our salary cap with disdain. Everyone MUST be EQUAL! Yeah, right. Any company with offices in all capital cities know that staff in Sydney must be paid at least 20% more, due to the high cost of living in Sydney. It's only those that don't understand this commercial reality that complain.

I went to my local Dan Murphy's on Saturday with my scarf on. This happened:
Woman behind counter: You'd be a happy man!
me: Certainly am, and a very hoarse one.
wbc: (laughs) I hope you win.

I suspect you could duplicate that sort of exchange all over Melbourne.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Yeh, I got that sort of thing from a guy a the shops on Sunday, "Go Bloods" was his final comment, just after, "You never beat us (Tigers)"

Speak for yourself... But true in that some Saintsational posts were blaming the umpires for their defeat. Hard to see how a sane person could come to that conclusion.

I also think that many Melbournites have warmed to Swans this year - although they still think oursupporters don't understand the rules.

I'm a Carlton supporter and am stoked that you beat those scum on Friday night. I've been cheering your lot on all through the finals. Fact I got on board at 11/1 a few weeks back may be swaying my judgment a bit though!

All the best for the weekend.
