The Monday of Grand Final week was Yom Kippur (Jewish Day of Atonement) so spent the whole day in synagogue praying.

Then the Dunkley sideshow took over. Was meant to be studying on the Wednesday for an exam but spent every hour listening to the radio to see if there was news with the investigation.

At about 3pm they said they had charged him and then the Swans went to court.

Thursday did my exam at UNSW and then headed straight to tha airport. Red and white balloons everywhere.

Friday went to the parade which was cool.

Friday night I couldn't sleep. Saturday morning I woke up with a surreal feeling we will all experience again this Saturday - "my team is going to be playing in a Grand Final today".

After watching many Grand Finals before was a weird sensation to think that the Swans were actually going to be playing in one.

Outside the ground was like a circus.

North was the people's choice because of the pro-Victorian sentiment.

Only the true believes had faith in us. First quarter was great. First half of the second quarter was better. After Mooney's goal I thought it was too good to be true.

Then came Kelly's kick and then Freeborn went crazy.

Walking home, passed Warwick Capper and had a bit of a chat with him.

Didn't stop thinking about the game continually till about January.

Was actually talking about this with my Dad just the other day, he was fortunate enough to have been there on that fateful day back in 1996.

We both made the comment that can't believe it's almost 10 years ago.

Went to both the PF and GF in '96. Yep the PF was fantastic. A bit like Davis' 3rd / 4th goal against Cats sort of excitment. There was more hype back then (yes, Superleauge helped) but probably more confidence / even-headedness / deservedness etc. this time
