    Focusing on Saturday

Just wondering what our midfield options are on Saturday?

We still have to dominate this decorated midfield of WCE if we are to win on Saturday.

Last hit-out saw Kerr, then Judd dominate almost at will through the middle. Though it didn't translate into a lot of goals, it was 3 more points than us.

Should Noggy be given another chance on Judd, even though he struggled with last time and got touched up by Dal Santo on Friday night?

Nog is the perfect fit for Judd, but if he is to take him, then he has to wear him like a straight jacket and just be harder at the ball. Juddy's a runner, not a scrapper, so he has to be taken out of his element. I would almost be hapy with Nog getting 2 touches if Juddy gets only 10.

I'd nearly be tempted to put Craig on the Juddernaught because his account"ability" can't be questioned.

With no Matera likely, that frees up Crouchy for Cousins or Kerr. I definitely like that little option. Crouchy is in the best form of his life. He was equal with ROK on Friday night. Without the bursts from defence from he and Leo, there would have been no play for ROK to capitalise on.

Who will run around with Embley? Will Goodesy try and go to him to expose his loose checking or will Stenglein crowd the area and tag him?

No one has said it yet, but Goodesy played himself into some kind of form on Friday night. He crashed that pack brilliantly at the end of the 3rd, Barry crumbed and presto...GOAL that started the Saints rot.

Can anyone else see where we can gain some advantages?

Ablett has been struggling with his tagging assignments in recent weeks so maybe it's time to change his role. A couple of the Swans midfielders need to be charged with creating play, rather than stopping the opposition and he's one player capable of getting the ball forward quickly if he can get first hands on it - he just needs to drop it on his boot and boof it forward.

As to Embley, I'd have thought young Dempster would be an obvious choice. He has the height and speed and has shown he has the concentration to run with players too. At his stage in his career (and based on season to date) Roos won't be expecting to get a huge amount from him in the opposite direction. Giving him a job like Embley to completely focus on is probably exactly what he needs to calm the nerves.

      Hmmmmm, just my two cents worth;

      I would have:
      Crouch on Kerr
      Ablett on Cousins
      Williams on Judd
      Kirk on Fletcher

Goodes is an interesting one, I think he had the better of Steinglien in West Coast last they played.

The match for Judd is Dempster....similar height and speed, plus tagging form against Dal santo. He's the man, I say.

Is Dempster's speed explosive engough to go with Judd? It would be a pretty huge task to give the young guy.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I think C Bolton on Judd.

            Mathews on Cousins.

            Crouch on Kerr.

            Kirk on Fletcher.

            Dempster on Embley.

            Let Ablett play loose.

Agree that Ablett has struggled after being given some really big tasks in the finals and should be freed up to attack more.

Judd, Cousins, Kerr will rack of the possessions regardless of who plays on them but have shown this year that they struggle to be effective with the pressure the Swans apply.

We have the players to just about break even - ultimately we should just aim to get as many inside 50s as possible and let our forward line kick us a winning score.

Matera may be in, it seems.

Forwards. Hmm - and Baz to collect the Norm Smith. Now that would be a highlight.

Absolutely. Demps is one of our fastest.

I seem to recall Seany D came 2nd to Spriggs in all the pre-season runs.

Unlike Spriggs, however, he can kick.

Reports from the weagles are that Matera probably wont play, but yes Crouch is great match up on him.
