"Training"

I've just come from the open training session - we got their a little late, but as far as I could tell "training" consisted of kick to kick from about 15m away & then a few speculative shots at goal from the boundary line, followed by about 40 minutes of autograph signing. Strewth, we trained harder than that in Amateurs footy & we were drunk half the time!

Still lots of fun - only about 200 people there tops so atmosphere was pretty subdued compared to what you see of the Melbourne equivalent sessions. Everyone was in good spirits and pretty relaxed as far as I could tell (except Roosy who looked more preoccupied than usual). Only incident was when Goodesy pretended to run off with my daughter's toy Winnie-the-Pooh - looked like it could get ugly for a moment but Adam wisely decided to hand it back.

My twins, dressed in fairy costumes, raced up & gave Nick Davis a big hug & the cameras went crazy so every chance they'll feature in some of the quality broadsheets tomorrow. I'm a trifle concerned at their being groupies at age 4 but at least they only go for match winners.

My 2yr old daughter would only do that to Cyggie, who she seems to spot and scream at from anywhere up to 1000 yards away.

They must be so match fit by now and surely so ready for Saturday that I dont think there is any point in putting them through a hard training session lest anyone get injured. I have faith in our coaching staff.

Vogels was only just turning up to training at around 2. I am pretty sure he did not train (may have just gone for a swim).

yeah spot on. its all about being fresh considering the travel of the past month and that the WC have had a weeks break as well

Yes all the coaches have stated throughout the finals series that the match is the conditioning session.

Vic news said 500 people were there and laughed at the low number - but most really don't realise how different it is in Sydney.

I'm not even sure if it was that...probably peaked at around 500 midway through the session. It wasn't advertised much here though. Oh well, wasn't a bad way to spend an hour or so...

I remember seeing news highlights of Collingwood training before a full house at the old Victoria Park or McHale Stadium or whatever it's called now, in Grand Final week in 2002 or 2003 - that would be unheard of here in Sydney!

That's coz Collingwood supporters don't have jobs that would preclude them from attending a training session!

Main training session is always Thursday for a Saturday game so expect a good 45 minutes of sharp ball work and some light one on one.

With the heavy work load over the last 4 weeks and it being at the end of a long season Tuesday for most clubs would normally consist of just some light running and goal shooting.

At 2pm in Sydney people actually have jobs and have to be at their place of employment.

If it were at 6pm, I'd have been there like a flash. But at 2pm, forget it.
