My thoughts exactly. The Eagles will have planned for only one Tall (Bazza) in the Swans forward line whereby Vogels could spring up (a la bloody Toby Thurstans last year) and kick a couple fo goals due to the Eagles not having an effective match-up. Vogels therefore would have done his job.

Also, the Swans have enough midfield rotations to warrant Bevan not playing.

They are almost certain to play Glass, Hunter and Staker so any additional height in the backline could play into their hands. I think they may be weaker against small forwards, so perhaps Malceski.

Just a quick question on Vogels, i thought he did his achillies in the reserves grand final? I woudl think that would rule him out, or wasnt the injury as bad as first thought?
The plus side with bringing in Vogels is having an extra tall player who can go forward, or if need be, can go back and defend, so if he is 100% fit, i would go Vogels. If not, then i would say bring in Mal. Bevan would be hard doen by, and could be a good tagger, but Mal has the better use of the ball.

In all seriousness, Bevan's six tackles are what we missed in round one of the finals. If he can lay a handful of effective tackles in the first quarter it could easily be the difference.

I read on the Big Footy Board that there was a vote regarding Bevan and Mal,Votes count was 5 to 2 in favour of Mal.The 2 just happened to be Roosy and Jonas so Bevan got the spot.
Possible reason is that Mal hasn't done much at senior level wheras Bevan has and has plenty of guts.There is a huge difference between senior and reserves level.
Coaches are known to have pulled swifties on GF day so Roosy may be joshing.Who knows?

I think that's where we could get most value from him. Everyone hit the Eagles hard in the first quarter. Grand finals are a different brand of football and the first team to recognise that and step up to the next level of intensity will go a long way toward winning.
