    "defamation" - please........

Throughout the RWO site there are insults directed at Collingwood players and supporters. Should I get in touch with M. Malthouse to have a 'hissy fit' over these insults?

    C'mon, please.

And if he did, then anything deemed as libellous would be removed. It's been done before.

While we enjoy a bit of banter (and you can't say that all of the banter has been removed, just personal attacks), our position has always been that we will remove any material if reasonably requested. Quite frankly, probably even the under-13s Footy Record Sellers Guild has a bigger legal budget than we do, and we don't really see the point in arguing over it. Easier to just remove anything even potentially dangerous. Really a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't.

This part of RWO is here because I feel there should be a place to discuss local footy. I would gladly shut it down and redirect people to a suitable official/unofficial replacement that can be run by the people who understand the local footy politics and culture, but there just isn't one.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Further to what des has said, the guidelines that have been set out have been done so to avoid the specific problems of legal stoushes etc - RWO is run by a group of volunteers - we contribute our own time and funds out of nothing more than the sheer love of the game, both in the big leagues, and at local level. We don't have the funds, nor the time or availability to deal with legal problems, so we do our level best to avoid them in the first place. If you don't like it, feel free to head elsewhere, otherwise play by the rules set out and live with it.

I am new to this forum and originally came to read up any news or comments on the East Coast Eagles who are affilliated with the WCE, and also follow the Sydney AFL in general.

People taking potshots at other posters and clubs are very common around the place on the forums.

I have learned quite a bit about the Sydney AFL scene -especially when the AFL NSW say they are implementing a plan to get all junior clubs aligned with Senior clubs in their districts. This is bread and butter type organising which is just being brought in.
However it looks like most things are going in the right direction now.

The actual set up for the Sydney AFL comps looks very confusing at first -Just wondering why unpaid Amateur Football type League has not been set up, so everybody knows exactly what is going on. Yes I know player numbers are not real good, but use the existing structures in place and rename them as Amateurs.
Still not quite sure how the comps are set up though.

To the guys running the ECE there is only one way to silence the knockers -win the flag.

Insults are different to the truth It is only defamation if it is not true.

I aint no lawyer, but my understanding is if someone is auctioning a horse it is not defamation to turn up to the sale and call out "horse theif", if it is actually true. But you cant just run around and call someone a theif at the pub and on television when it has no relevance to the situation at hand.

                Humphrey Bear

Anyone who is a constant follower of this forum would be aware of the Bears continual bagging of the East Coast Eagles. His failure to identify himself is proof enough of what kind of person he is. I love a bit of stirring and the odd rumour to be presented in this forum, but let's talk the footy up in Sydney. The competition is starting to head in the right direction and with the positive actions of football followers, the league is set to prosper in the future. Well done to Cambletown on the appointment of Glenn Garner, yet another sign of football clubs in the Sydney AFL heading in the right direction.

                  HOUSE

Thanks house I am certainly looking forward to the challenge along with the Campbelltown FC. I have looked at this forum for a while now and it is good to see that people are identifying themselves. This should get rid of a fair bit of speculation and third hand information.

I certainly look forward to being able to provide some accurate info to those people who are genuinly interested in Sydney Football instead of reading posts about Clubs and Individuals from people with limited information.

I also don't mind the pot being stirred a bit mate and I guess it is up to the individual how they take it!
