    gore hill oval

Is actually looking very good right now.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

    ha, ha,

A bit of rain + zero traffic sees all the grounds recover this time of year.

maybe we should change the SFL to a summer league, coz in thats the only way we'll games on decent grounds. Been that way for the last 3 or 4 years given the lack of rain in the winter.

      Gore Hill Looking Good??

      You must be kidding!

Maybe from the road it looks good. But the newly laid turf hasnt taken on yet. They relaid some turf in problem area's but its still terrible. First game of the season and it will be back to its wicked ways....

Having not played on the ground, it's hard to comment about the surface, but one thing that needs to be absolutely, unequivocally demanded, by both North Shore and the Sydney AFL, is that the cricket pitch is covered during football season.
A big chunk of concrete in the middle of a ground is dangerous and I believe would cost all concerned a lot of money if someone was seriously injured on it.

Do you mean to say that the council can't put a few truckloads of soil over the pitch!!!!! It's standard practoice where I come from...all the club or league needs to do is point out the possibility that a lawsuit could happen and I bet it would be covered within the week of the cricket season finishing

Sand alone is not good enough .
Councils now have to place roll on grass or mats over the pitches .
Councils are flirting with danger from lawsuits if they don't .
            give it to the game

I believe they did put some soil over the pitch before the start of the season; but unfortunately because of the dry weather & water restrictions it all blew off during the season. No grass was ever rolled out over it, and it should have.
By the last North Shore home game, the surface was a dustbowl - I covered that game for the RWO match report, and it looked like this

Before the next season, hopefully the council will roll out some grass over the transplanted soil; and to top it up regularly & not see it as a one-off job at the start of the season. If they don't, as BMR & cos789 pointed out, it's a litigation minefield.

Gore Hill - over the hill?

Don't send your complaints here, send them to Willoughby Council. If you don't complain, nothing will happen.
