Sorry Kanga I realised as soon as I posted it. The way I read the post the first time I thought it was a reference to coaching staff not players.

Ill just go and find a corner to hide in now.

PS if you find you end up with too many on your books who wont get a run send them my way if they are locals because god knows we need all we can get at the moment to ensure two sides again next season.

South West - Originally at Bankstown for 4 years and the last 10 at South West. Despite living a lot closer to other clubs over the years the only time I ever trained elsewhere(with the intent of playing) was 1/2 a preseason with StGeorge after Bankstown folded before I learned of the merger with Liverpool.

What happened to all your players last year, most of your senior side left didnt they?. I know Lees went to wests, and a few went to Camden but what about the rest of them? Did you lose any to other Sydney clubs?

I certainly look forward to establishing and building a relationship with your club over the next year and beyond, to ensure that all clubs and players within our region have the opportunity to participate and be successful.

We get a of Army boys who tend to move on every couple of years. Thats not the biggest factor though as it tends to even out a bit. This year a number of Army boys were directed to other clubs which hurt a bit.

We lost those players that you mentioned as well as quite a few who have retired. I'll be 35 next season and only 2 blokes now remain from my Bankstown days with me. This is pretty much the case with the guys stayed on from Liverpool.

Another factor has been lack of support staff. The playing group has been running the clubs pretty much since its inception as SWS. This was ok at the start because the original players wanted to ensure that clubs success and we had quite a few fairly successfull years which also helps. Now the new guys just want to show up and expect to play and piss off whilst a minority clean up after them.

This coming season will be our first year where the committee is comprised of no players (with the exception of myself who is only in a marketing / website capacity). We are putting in the ground work to ensure there is enough support staff to run things smoothly.

Our numbers for preseason training have been poor so far but we expected that after the season just gone. Players this year wont have the luxury of running their own show either - either they do as they are told or they dont play. We dont want to drop a div and field only one side and dont plan to but will if players dont commit. After seeing Pekays sucess last season we would rather have 30 committed blokes that 70 not committed.

Glad to hear things are going well out at Monarch Kanga, the Towners are in a similar position to us at NorWest (and SWS),as we are rebuilding the club for a strong platform for 2006 and beyond.Recruiting is going as well as it can for December(by that i mean most blokes contacted have expressed an interest in training-in January-they cant get the can out of their hand!)We started training on UWS Richmond Campus(I know Tara,a uni- everything i go against)but numbers are encouraging so far.Its also good that you see merit in a Ctown-SWS affiliation Kanga,as i believe that is the way 1st Div clubs will eventually have to go. We would welcome any help from East Coast(it happened in 02 but the wrong people were involved, but its a bit more clear how it must be approched this time around, from our side at least)the league has given us an attainable deadline,so with the right people in place, and a bit of luck, all should go well at Bensons. And maybe in the new year,i'll learn how to add paragraphs.

                    Gidday Pete ....

See the announcement at www.eastcoasteagles.com.au re Wally Gallio's appointment.

I reckon all Clubs (senior & junior) in our "area" will benefit from him coming on board.

Wally starts with us mid January. We'll be in touch.
