    AFL Rookie draft

Congratulations to Keiran Jack who was the only Sydney player to be picked up as a rookie as far as I know..

What happened to Dean Davies? My mail was that the Swans told him that he was going to be picked up..

    Does anyone know what happened?

He had his hopes up as a result of the Swans "telling" him he was gonna get picked up??Surely they wouldnt be so deceitful..........

Surely he wouldn't have talked himself up.

        Thats not what i meant

I didn't mean to suggest that Dean talked himself up, I know him pretty well and I know he wouldn't do that, I am just trying to find out why he wasn't picked up..

I know nothing about Dean's case but a few things could have happened:

          * Swans were expecting other players to be drafted by clubs ahead of them, but when they weren't they snapped them up instead??

          * Dean may have mis-interpreted what was said to him "we are interested in you" v "we will definitely draft you"??

          * perhaps from the time he was told to draft day perhaps he relaxed & had a few shocking training sessions??

Whatever the case, he won't be on an AFL list, what are his plans for next year?

Or what do you think young players like him should do now? Should he go to Canberra comp & play against Swans ressies; should he go to VFL, SANFL, WAFL?

Would the Swans coaching staff advise him about what he needs to do over the next 12 months in terms of skill levels or fitness requirements?

Perhaps he could talk to someone like Brett Kirk or Troy Luff or Neil Brunton about what it is like to be rejected a few times before finally getting to play at AFL level for the Swans.
See me run a marathon again as a leprechaun?
