Did St George have there full team playing? If not how many were they missing? How much did they get beat by in 1st grade?
How have St George gone with recruits?
We had 14 first graders not playing due to various reason(work, army duties, cricket finals etc).
The effort was very good but Eastlakes were to good on the day.
Recruiting has gone better than expected plus the return of guys like Declan Donohue(Nthn Bullants) & Peter Dugmore(Uk) in addition to all the young fellas who got opportunities in 2005 has given us reason for optimism.
The guys have worked very hard over the last 4-5 months and are looking forward to the season ahead.
We have a trial on saturday against Penno which will give us a better indication of where we are at.
Originally posted by Pekay A bright start to a sunday-11am at Picken Oval after a huge engagement party the night before. All the talk at the do was of old clashes with South West, many a tough fair bruising encounter. Both coaches agreed to 4 quarters, and neither team was disappointed.Although both teams were understrength, the footy was played at a fast pace, with players putting everything into the game.Personally,we got plenty out of the game, with positions played not the usual to some players, and with the highlight of the day being yours truly kicking 2 goals from Full Forward(1st goal since Fire Brigade trial in 04)we ended the day looking forward to our first game. Many thanks to the South West boys for organising the trial, always a pleasure to knock heads with the Pies.(PS-i think we won-Wheels,Tara-where were you?- did anyone on your end keep score?)
Was great to meet you that day pekay - I was the fat bloke goal umpiring at the river end.
Originally posted by william wallace Thats a good effort from the uni boys. Did anyone catch this game? How did each team look? Any new quality recruits? Were both at full strength?
Uni seemed pretty small in the first 3 periods, but small means fast these days,so they covered some ground. When i was leaving Uni (In Fitzroy style strips) were warming up at near full strength(besides the bloke that pulled up on his sisters pretty Vespa)and Penno seemed to have some big guns coming on at that time- Parker, Folkard etc.Footy looked fast but not too physical.
He actually saw me up in the club as he was pulling in.....He gave me a wave but seemed a bit sour when i fell of my chair....My other mate had some choice words for him.A Vespa??????Still cant believe it. And your next post has merit.......
