    Fox Footy Scheduling

Am I the only one or has the Fox games chosen this year apart from the Balmain v St George been terribly matched up?

It was a great shame not to see my Penno v StGeorge rd 4 (even though we lost) televised and was clearly match of the round.

I wonder if theyll put on the top 2 clash in 3 weeks ECE Vs St George?

If they dont they are bloody hopeless or is no longer the top 2 undeafeated times a worthwhile spectacle??????

Sorry Ash but you wont be seeing St George vs ECE.

The league has released what games will be shown and St George will not be on Fox Footy until after round 11.

It's a shame the Penno v St George game wasn't televised - but it's hard to know in advance which games will be close and which won't, and early in the season they try to spread the games around so every team gets some games covered.
Jacks & BMR could probably explain the game selection better than I can, but it's a complex juggling act around when people are available (everyone's got commitments with their own club and personal commitments so getting to other games depends on that) as well as trying to ensure each team gets televised. Some grounds are easier to cover from than others so there'd be technical requirements.

The East Coast v St George game in a couple of weeks should be a beauty, but unfortunately isn't a TV game. Sadly I won't be able to go to it or cover it for here either - I'll be in Canberra that day.

I_H_K, not sure when UNSW-ES will be on telly, but keep your eye on the Record. I'll try to get a good pic of Kefalas when I'm covering a UNSW-ES game and put it up on my match report.

In response to I_Heart_Kefalas, I beleive UNSW/ES games at the moment to be:

Rd 8 UNSW/ES v Wollongong at Henson and
Rd 10 UNSW/ES v North Shore at Alan Davidson

From the League office on the 21st April ....

Rd2: Balmain v St George @ Drummoyne Oval

Rd3: Wollongong v Pennant Hills @ Nth Dalton

Rd4: North Shore v East Coast @ Gore Hill

Rd5: East Coast v Western Suburbs @ Henson

Rd 6: Pennant Hills v Campbelltown @ Ern Holmes

Rd 7: Balmain v North Shore @ Drummoyne Oval

            Rd 8 UNSWES v Wollongong @ Henson

Rd 9 Campbelltown v Western Suburbs @ Monarch

Rd 10 UNSWES v North Shore @ ADO

We have tried to balance a mix of the better games and venues along with a need to have each club showcased a minimum number of times. In the second half of the year, more focus will be given on what is considered the true match of the round (only occasionally restricted by venue suitability).

              What he said!!!

Most media covering football (AFL excluded) will focus on giving each club equal coverage in the first half of the year before moving onto covering the teams more likely to feature in the finals from about round 13 onwards.

So Ash, we'll see you this Sunday.

A REPLY TO A FEW QUOTES.

PICTURE OF KEFALAS. IT CAN BE A STILL SHOT AS HE RARELE GETS NEAR THE BALL AND IS RATHER SLOW.

SCHEDULING- CROCK OF CRAP. YOU LOOK AT THE LADDER AND PIC TEAMS THAT ARE CLOSE TO EACH OTHER- NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. WHOEVER IS DOING THE SCHEDULING SHOULD CONSIDER THIS SIMPLE FORMULA.

FROM RD 7 TO 10 THERE ARE 4 GAMES THAT WILL NOT FEATURE ONE SIDE THAT WILL NOT EVEN GO CLOSE TOFEATURE IN THE GF THIS YEAR. PLEASE WHO ARE YOU KIDDING.

Geez, tell us what you really think Ash. I think your anger is misguided though. As Oscar said, they released the first 10 matches prior to round 2, so they could hardly know at that stage who which would be the better matches to schedule.

As for the coment about rds 7-10 not containing any team that will go close to finals, if you account for the fact that St George, ECE and probably Penno are the only team currently that look like sure things, balmain have no hope, then that leaves Campbelltown, UNSW/ES, Gong, NS and Wests all looking for that last spot in the four. Rounds 7-10 scheduled match of the week see at least one, if not two of those teams playing in each week.

And as Oscar also pointed out, this formula of picking the best two teams each week, (while not entirely) will be used more in the latter half of the year.

Regarding your comment about Kefalas, couldn't agree more. I think the mojority of the Uni/ES boys are still wandering around ADO looking for the footy...
