Shearer, I'm not commenting specifically on the Rod Craig issue as I don't know all the in's and outs of that.

But, the league has also suspended a player for 3 weeks this year for swearing when he has not been reported in playing more than 300 games for the one club. The league never took into account this players previous record!

This even comes after the player admitted to swearing but the umpire still misquoted the player. There seems to be an ongoing lack of consistency here - with all tribunal appearances.

It will be interesting to see what does come out of the ECE v Wests game. Nothing would surprise me with the decisions I have seen made this year.

Nugget, i agree with you in regard to inconsistancy.

To get 3 weeks for swearing is excessive considering a player from another club in a game against us a few weeks ago ran 30m to get into an umpires face to tell him "You are a f*&ing spastic c*&t"..not even a free kick was given.

Are you kidding?? You are wrong! Have you not seen Eid Kassem play? On of the dirtiest players in the league. Cheap high shots are his speciality whether its with his fist, elbow or any other body part. You havent watched too many We$t$ games CB!

It gets better than that, we had a player sent off and reported for saying the following remark to a team mate after a free kick, and I quote. "He even knows his name, he must know him".

He was offered two weeks, went to the tribunal where after hearing the umpires evidence the charge was changed from misconduct to using abusive, obscene or insulting language to or in relation to an umpire.

He recieved 1 week plus a 1 week suspended sentence. If anyone has heard anything this ridiculous before I will be very suprised.

For the record it was good to see that Craigy got off without missing a game, I was unaware that any racial villification issue was put forward. Did the tribunal hear it as such or a straight forward charge and How did you manage to get him off?

Technically Rod didnt get off, he was given a one week suspension(the rep game) plus the 3 week suspended sentence.

And Kanga your right, ive never heard anything as ridiculous. The only thing that comes as close was seeing an umpire reverse a decision against us last year. Trev Burnett was penalised for holding the ball, Trev said to the umpire "It was held to me", the umpire said "ok then we will have a ball up instead".

Even that is ridiculous... Missing a rep game should not count as serving a suspension or part thereof. Same thing happened with Gambale last year. Its poor form from the judiciary, its just weak. If a player who wasn't selected in the rep game got suspended the week before the game he wouldn't get to count the week off as his suspension served. If this precedent were to be followed, a player could be suspended in the last game of the year but serve his suspension in the practice games. For example if a player got suspended for 8 weeks for an incident in the last game of the year, his club could feasibly schedule 8 practice games and have thier player back for rnd1.

I think we have have an idea of what "allegedly" occured last weekend. If no outcome arrives from H/O, can it be said that finals could be interesting to watch or is House correct in saying that "what happens on the ground, stay's on the ground" I have reservations.

Don't worry I am aware of the history there. There was a touch of sarcasm with my previous post.

Just an innocent question regarding Saturdays game. If it was one of the Freckled Ducks (Protected Species) from the league that was struck by a registered player on the weekend, would any action be forthcoming? I would imagine that action would be swift and severe. Once again the league is showing it's total lack of ability to deal with issues in this competition. Surely they could have rang around Sunday and got those involved (ECE, Wests, Umpires and independent witnesses) to submit statements to them. Looked at the statements and organised any interviews for Monday and Tuesday. Deliberated on the facts on Wednesday morning and come up with and announce a punishment on Wednesday night. Are they that inept at HQ that they cannot actually do their job at least half right? The tribunal has been disgraceful, organisation of the draw laughable and general administration duties just beyond them. I say open duck season early!!
