Ive made no comments on any coaches playing days great or otherwise.

I suggested (correctly) that if a team has several players that overstep the physical issue (all of you agree except shearer who must have been a tough player in his day) then a coach must condone this behaviour. I would too if the league takes no action then tthe players in question are doing nothing wrong.

However, who here would consider the tribunal to take correct action. Just a thought

Please, apart from 3-4 good players in each team, the competition is pretty much an U21 competition and most teams of the 90s which were a mix of youth and men would easily account for any of the current 9 teams.

Ash i dare say youve been on the friday arvo cans because nowhere in my previous post did i mention the standard of the current league.

I did say that the league was a lot cleaner than the late 80's & 90's.and i stand by that. I remember the Grand Finals from 1987 to 1991 Grand finals like it was yesterday.

There is noone in the league today who can compare with blokes like the Noack & Podbury Brothers, Mathieson & Brian Kershaw. Very hard blokes but bloody good footballers and they were just to mention a few from that great Campbelltown era.

There was also blokes like Keg Foster, Dale Laube, Archer, Hollis, Steve Porter & Partridge from Parra.

At Saints you had guys like Mick Travers, Peter Siebels, Simon Lawrence, Tony Quinn & Mark McGrath.

There were plenty of others from other clubs and im sure Rafters can fill you in on them.

I was only talking with one of your senior penno boys about this today. We spoke of the Wests team that won the flag under Ronnie that had Manny Lynch, Beverstock,Partridge, TG, Lenton, Joe Cormick etc...besides Joey they were all massive units.

The game is a hell of a lot cleaner and that can only be a good thing for the league to develop younger players.Whereas two decades ago you would play only a few kids, clubs now have confidence that regardless of age if the yare good enough they will get a game and that can only be a good thing.

Its a war and peace i know but thats my opinion, as for a better standard i reckon the Campbelltown team of the late 80's & early 90's would win the comp by 10 goals.

largely considered a wasted talent he certainly had the skills and football brain to be a sfl first grader but was continually let down by his poor preparation on game day and ill-disciplined approach to training coupled with an over-inflated view of his own worth and inability to put his body on the line when required.

Result of the NSWAFL's investigation is that M Kassem has been suspended for a breach of the Code of Conduct - ?Conduct Unbecoming? in that he as a spectator engaged in unnecessary contact with a player.
He has been suspended until the end of 2007 - which sends a clear message that breaches to player safety and the code of conduct will not be tolerated.

i wouldnt call that a clear message, basically in most other sports if a spectator became involved with a player it would be more like a life ban.

i think all clubs would be concerned with a verdict such as that, player safety doesnt seem like to big of a concern.

one thing must be asked who are the people who run the nsw afl accountable too???

That is in effect over a twelve month suspension with is pretty standard up here for that type of offence.
