Finals Match Ups From The Arm Chair Experts

Time to see how the old arm chair experts would line up the Finals Teams if they were at the helm. (Any Division)

Each Teams Key Players - Why?
    Suggested Match Ups - Why?

Good Luck to all Clubs and Teams in the Finals.

    I'll have a crack

Reality_Check_1 will get the task at fullback on Humphrey bear, whilst in the guts I see a ding dong battle between Coastal Boy and Northern Swan.

Shearer and Kanga Coach will battle it out on the wing and probably even each other out - so we'll call that contest a draw.

I hear Medair Kassem has received a stay of proceedings and will get a tagging role on Woodsy.
    Oh crikey!

Allow me to comment on the 2s game between ECE and Penno.
I only saw each team once but this is my assessment from what I have seen. Match ups are difficult as the teams vary so much but overall:

ECE have a tougher team with more muscle in the body-on-body contests.
Penno have a better set up for centre bounces with more variety in the taps and better on the deck. ECE are one dimensional and can be shut down here. They will rely on their muscle in the centre to do the job.

ECE rely on good disposal into the their leading, marking forwards. They enter the 50m too wide particularly on Henson which can be low percentage against a good defence. Hence ECE could have trouble racking up a big enough score to win the game. Penno however are a little more dynamic and can rove quite a few goals.

Penno drop Yardy back at CHB which must be combatted by smart entry into the forwards. A good ruck for ECE can reek hovac through the middle but i dont know whether ECE have the manpower here.

ECE will rely on a solid game to get them home. Players like Physick if fit enough (and not in the 1s) will be unmangeable for Penno.

      Look for:
A good tussle at ECE FF/Penno FB which will go a long way to decide the outcome.
ECE to intimidate Penno with hard at the ball.
ECE to be one dimensional - if it dosent work they will panic.
Penno to play wider and free flowing - they could be in trouble if they try to match up and cant.
Penno to exploit their height advantage.

Result: I dont know. Penno if they are smart, ECE if they are better organised.

That's a fair write up on both sides (and fairly accurate IMO) Coastal Boy, especially seeing you only saw them once each.

                Lets go again.
It maybe considered common knowledge but I would say the key for Wests is the exploits of Withers, Fiddles and Macpherson. Wests will be wanting Withers to kick 4 and Fiddles a couple for them to kick enough to win the game. If ECE can keep Macca down to under 15 touches and the above to under a few goals their job will be all but done.

                    Hey Kanga Coach,
I think it is safer to let the arm chair expert stay in the old chair after some of the garbage that gets posted on here. I tell you what to watch for, Salem whacking Gus all day long while the ball is 100M away. Tim Kear had better watch himself to or big Salem may dip in sugar and eat him!

I will say that the Wollongong club are quite excited to have 2 teams in the finals in only the 2nd year up in the SAFL. The under 18s are a good chance whilst the magoos have a better good blend of youth & experience.

It is a club on the up with some excellent administrators, tremendous sponsors & some exciting talent on its list. With proposed improvements at North Dalton Park being staggered in over the next few off-seasons & an imminent alliance with an AFL club, things are looking quite prosperous for the Lions.

A smart player with coaching ability would be very wise to put in his application to coach the club for the next few seasons because this club will be on the rise & the coach will get all the accolades & be a great point in his resume.

I am very happy that I made the decision to drive down the highway & play footy with the guys over the past few years.
