AFL (NSW/ACT) Regional Updates - November

Just finished reading this off the Sydney AFL website and it seams that by this there are only 2 senior clubs in the South West Sydney Region they are Cambelltown and Camden. this just goes to show the Attitude of the people that run this circus that they include a team not even under the NSW / ACT Banner and yet no teams that do are mentioned(except of course Bills favorite Cambelltown), this is the whole problem of why 1st division and 2nd divison teams strugle to field 2 sides.

Yet Camden may struggle to field a sides after the mass Chook exodus .

Gee Campbelltown are gonna be stong next year - What with being the only senior side in region an all the poaching.

Poaching?? From your comments mate it seems you have solid evidence to suggest that Campbelltown has indeed poached players for next year. Would you like to share with us which players they have poached because I am certainly oblivious to it all. I think Campbelltown has received a hell of a lot of criticism for this so called 'poaching of players' which has been uncalled for.

Don't have to be too sharp as a player to realise that Campbelltown is a club on the rise with a coaching team second to none in the Sydney AFL. If players were happy playing at their current club they wouldn't leave, simple as that. You can't blame players who want to further their footy career by going to Campbelltown.

Maybe people just look at the recent history of the Campbeltown football club and realise every 5 or 6 years they buy a premiership. The next year the mercenaries depart and they drop down the bottom again.

It happened in 1994 where they came from last in the Bird/Murphy era. Then again under Brunton in 2001, so history says its time to unleash the cheque book again.

Really Blanket. From my perspective all I can see is other local sides being targeted for their players. But never fear there is only one side in the region from the AFL's perspective so I guess it isnt happening then is it.

As long as they pay, good on them.

Doesnt every club try to get the most playing talent they can with the resources they have each year?

Some clubs may even promise certain rewards and not fulfil them. Is that not worst???

Better to have a premiership and be looked after wouldnt you say.

Tara, what players have Campbelltown taken form your mob in the past? If anything you guys have poached them from C'town. Do the names Free, Lees, Simpson ring a bell?

I know Free & Martin have but dont think they would be playing 1's they are coaching the under 18's, and i would say that there would be a couple more that will follow chook really nothing that would really stand out in 1's.

The Western sydney report didnt even contain a seniors report in it...In fact i think the only seniors report(albeit brief and incomplete)was the south West report. Come on guys, we need exposure as well...

Players who want to move on and improve, good on 'em, but I don't understand the secret. I heard of around HALF A DOZEN!! SWS players (from my misses of all sources) who are training at C'town. Including last years club captain, best and fairest, not to mention the coach who is doing reserves..........all allegedly of course. I'm presuming you can't name names because it's unofficial?
Irish i can confirm the reserve grade coach, as for the players training they are doinig a bit of fitness work and having a look to see how they will go as our pre season has not started yet.

c'mon RPM, Spill the beans mate, what else are you hiding. Tell us blind folk more! Have you recruited more than you've lost down there at SW cos it sounds like there is a lot of players and coaches jumping ship.

Even better than the real thing!
