All will be revealed and all is not what it seems. Also only one has jumped ship - no loss either. The only coach to have left only performed the role last year to continue helping the club out and had already been replaced prior to his appointment at Campbelltown.

Unfortunately Irish has been reading too much into what his girlfrield says

All is ticking along nicely and yes we are looking to a more prosperous year. That said we'd want to after our two worst seasons since the merger.

Apologies from Bill he assures me it was just an oversight and certainly will include them in future reports and publish any information the club would like to send in as per Camden and Campbelltown.

C'mon Tara, surely you don't have the Sydney Football "poaching" mentality as well. I have not heard of any club who does not want to attract new players to join them each year.

I am sure your club is looking to gain players from your local area and other clubs. Every club does it every year, yet as soon as a club does it successfully everyone starts talking about poaching and dollars.

My suggestion for everyone is this, if your club has ever recruited a player from another club or is looking to do so then you would be foolish to criticise another club for doing the same thing.

(Unless you are a hypocrite that is)!

My own opinion is that their should be a system and agreement that sees a flow of players to and from Clubs in both divisions or seperate leagues.

Kangacoach i totaly agree with you i am gretting a little sick of all this poaching talk a player makes his own mind up on where he wants to play so i do not see the use for using the word poaching its all just to try to get people talking. As far as the regional i understand and i didnt want to make something of Bill (at least there was some sort of senior club update not like the other regions that have nothing) just that the lower divisons seam to get no exposure.

Maybe people just look at the recent history of the Campbeltown football club and realise every 5 or 6 years they buy a premiership. The next year the mercenaries depart and they drop down the bottom again.

It happened in 1994 where they came from last in the Bird/Murphy era. Then again under Brunton in 2001, so history says its time to unleash the cheque book again.
Maybe you should have a look at our list! You will see that almost all our players are local and the players we have targeted to recruit are also local.

I guess we will have to wait and see just how our recruiting and retention goes and how much success we have and how long for.

Kanga have a look at other post Ive made. I expect you blokes to have a good year next season after the foundations you have laid over the past season.

I have laughed about all the poaching talk as I believe you wouldnt be doing your job properly if you wernt actively trying to attract the best talent you could to you club. If I was a bit younger(and not a cripple) I would like love to do a preseason with you guys as I know a few of our blokes are doing. I liked the way you prepared your training manual for last season and suspect if you can get all your players to do 70% of what you want you will have a very fit side.

Of course we are looking at gaining players from wherever we can and as you would be aware we have appointed a new coach and hopefully this can breath some life back into the club.

Lastly I wouldnt begrude any player looking to step up and improve themselves - lifes too short to have unanswered questions.

I was going to reply like RPMS but as he started the thread I thought he deserved first right of reply.

I think you'll find the both of us harbour no malice towards any clubs (with the exception of Manly - HeHe) and just like having at dig at the way the AFL runs the show up here like a bank with their All Care but No Responsibility mentallity.

We have both played the last 15 seasons together and have yet to see the AFL put in place a realistic plan (in conjuction with clubs) to see all levels of football Sydney Metro prosper. Surely you can see without a strong SFA(1st D) the SFL(Premier) will never really prosper. How can you have a strong local competition that comprises of less than 2000 senior players of which many are over 30 yo.

Matt Withers will be at Bensons lane next year in the biggest poaching effort since Geoff Jansz got 5 dozen double yoke eggs on Whats Cooking. Also there will be Glenn Garner and all other high class players in Sydney Footy.....call me uber poacher... next on my list is Tara for magoos coach and Irish to run the bar.Get on it.

I agree mate, a strong 1st Division is certainly vital to not only ensure a strong Premier Division but to also provide all players with the opportunity to play at the highest level they can. It will also attract quality players toward the end of their careers to continue to play in a reasonable standard of football which will in turn fast track the learning of younger players and maybe provide inspiration for them to play at the next level.

We are at a stage now where we have a lot of players about to leave junior football who have played since Auskick and if we do things right at our clubs and within our regions we should have plenty of numbers in the years to come. The challenge for our clubs now is to work together to ensure that players, junior and senior do not miss out on a game of footy.

You won't get any arguements from me that we need to invest heavily in senior football right across Sydney.
