According to you Wests are going to be a fringe top four team. So 5 other coaches ought to get the chop before Kevin and maybe he may win coach of the year for the superb effort of having a 'divided and unhappy club' attain such a good result.

For the record, i'm pretty happy with the result SWS have been given, it will prove to be a lifeline to the club.As far as i'm concerned, i dont care how many teams exist in 1st Div now that SWS have gone down ,it guarantees their survival in the future, with a smaller club n player list to manage, it reduces the burden on those that carry the club, makes the little jobs within the club easier to do, the player group gets competitive as they push for a spot in the one team, it all points to a rebuild, and better times ahead.I for one will be supporting Tara and the boys from Rosedale, and know my entire club will be behind South West just as they were supportive of us when we were in Div 2.Good luck and make it a Draught Tara....

I am merely responding to the insinuation that Wests are set for an unhappy year yet will seemingly will end the season 5th. I was pointing out that in a 10 team competition that is better than most.

Sad to see SWS drop down & I feel for St Clair being forced out with a different set of criteria.

I guess the sad thing is that the south west region was previously covered by 2 clubs (Liverpool & Bankstown) not that long ago. I think each club had 3 grades ... so to go from 6 sides to 1 in just over a decade is sad & cannot be merely a result of the army, but perhaps the way that the demographics of Sydney have changed??

PS Coastal - how is my jumper going? Seems to be taking a while to get cleaned & ironed?

Bankstown had 2 senior sides and an under 19's(think that was the age anyway) as well as a good junior base. I joined in 93 and things pretty much headed downhill from there.

Liverpool only had 2 senior sides around the same period.

At one point we did have 3 sides at SWS to cater for blokes who just wanted a run without all the training pain and for the diehards who liked backing up at 10am Sundays.

I have been out of the loop for a while, but surprised to see what's been happening. I knew a little bit, but didn't realise it had come to droping down to div 2

Lets face it, poor management of the club over a few years. I'm not suprised at all. This isn't a dig at the (few) people trying to do something BUT it's too little too late.

Irish you may not have intended it as a dig but it is.

Unfortunately I agree to some extent however the players at the club took it for granted and expected others to do everything for them. In my time at the club and at Bankstown very few players have ever given much back to the club when they cease playing.

How many times did you take the jumpers home to wash for example? I have done it dozens of times over the year. Did you ever put your hand up to be on the committe if you though it was not being run in the manner you thought it should?

Its very easy to sit back and look at how things have unfolded but did you do anything to help avoid this outcome?

These questions arnt necessarily directed at you either mate but more at the entire playing list we have had. Most of them did nothing, they expected it all done for them. Senior players who you would like to think would have remained at the club to pass on the knowledge and spread the load havent and its sad to have seen it all unfold.

Its much easier for players when things get tough to look for greener pastures at other clubs.

Actually for your information I was on the committe when Bampton was president, but it was decided the following year that no players were allowed on the committe.................real good decision that turned out to be.

To be fair, I don't think that decision was made to stop it happening, rather that it would be preferable to have a non-playing comittee. At that point in time there were the people available from outside the playing ranks to fill the roles, I know you would agree that it is not easy playing and being on the commitee. The recent commitees have included playing and non-playing (and non-talented playing) members.

Look, i hate to be the one to point it out but it's clearly poor management. People put their hand up to do a job, well done, it's not easy with other commitments etc. I mean that. But if a club goes down the drain then they obviously didn't do their job. This isn't a swipe at any individual at SWS.
Absolutely ridiculous to blame players. I'd go as far as saying there was more hunger on the pitch than off it....remembering where the club finished.

....and another thing. Why don't they just introduce a relegation/promotion system. Jets won Div 2, they went up. SWS went down. Sydney Uni went up to the Prem.

Bull @@@@. Who put their hand up at the AGM to actually do anything? How many helped out after match days? How many said they would do something but never did? The players have a responsibity towards their club - thats if they give two @@@@s about it.
