Greatest @#$& speech I have ever @#%$ heard. $%#@ it was @#$% inspirational.

Ahh the Shephards Bush Raiders...Had seen this speech before. Apparently they did win the game FWIW.

I actually watched them (or at least the West London Wildcats) on Saturday at the ANZAC sports challenge in London. Their FF missed from 15 out on a 45 degree angle and proceeded to call the Umpire a FA$$%& cheat. After the game he ran 100m to give the ump (an opposing club volunteer) another gob full in reference to his alleged cheating not costing the Cats the win. Fortunately karma had a good run in the final, with the same player dropping 4 marks(which he was constantly reminded of by an intoxicated Northern_Swan) and the Wansworth Demons winning by 2 points.

Moral to the story...if you want to play AFL in London, dont go to the West London Wildcats/Shephards Bush Raiders- the Collingwood of the UK!

Hang on Northern Swan... Just because one player from a group plays the grumpy full forward role and has a case of sour grapes, doesn't mean an entire club should be painted with the seriously harsh brush of "The Collingwod of the UK". If the full forward you speak of is the bloke I am thinking of, he has won a number of premierships with the Wildcats, and also at least two league leading goalkicker awards. This by no means excuses his behavior, but he is a highly respected player in the BARFL. As for the Wildcats, talk about tall poppy syndrome... Winning three flags in a row means a club is obviously run well on and off field and should be congratulated.

As for the 3/4 time Raiders grand final speech... an inspirational talk from an inspirational man!

Yeah, I was a bit flat that day, the President had warned me the week before about offensive language so I had to tone it down a bit.

Mate i've got no idea about who has won last week, let alone the last 3 years, so how you could attribute my comments as tall poppy syndrome is beyond me. I stand by my comment, the way they carried on both on and off the field was very Collingwood-esque, and I formed my opinion based upon what I saw over the course of that day, and nothing else.

Fair point NS that you don't know the history of the club, but do you think you should be labelling an entire club and their culture on what you saw in one preseason carnival?

Not as good as BDAFL seniors but better than Reserve Grade would be the assessment I'd give, keeping in mind I saw the Semi's & Final of a day long competition in fair heat (by London standards at least!!) so the standard could be better thn that.

Ok, so perhaps it is not fair to label them as bad as Collingwood (probably no-one deserves that), but I stand by my inference that their sportsmanship left a lot to be desired. I would assume that there were many like me there on the weekend who went along to get their first taste of AFL London style, and if they saw the incident, as well as their general demeanour, they may well be turned off the club as well so to that end, I stand by what I say

You would have to agree that it is pretty poor form to call a club umpire a F^&*ing cheat over what could be put diplomatically as a "close call", and then carry on about it after the game after you had won. To have a club condone or encourage that sort of behaviour is even worse. I would hardly class it as playing the role of "The Grumpy Full Forward".

Am I to assume that you have played/currently play for the club or another in London??

I agree NS and I am disappointed that the club has put out that image. The wildcats are a proud club and yes, as a past 2-time premiership player with the wildcats, it is disappointing to see that happening. The BARFL kicks off next weekend I believe and hopefully it should be another cracker year!
