Roo you are correct but there were other issues with Danny the others wouldnt be aware of. The season he played two's he did so on one leg as his knee was stuffed. As for training he lived in the Blue Mountains that year and had only just had his first child. Danny never had the inclination to go further with his football at the time we were mates which to me was unfortunate becuase he had a lot to offer. That however was his decision. His brother Ray may not have had the flair that Danny had but if you had combined the boys you would have had one hell of a skilled and determined footballer. My personnal thoughts are if you have the skill you should aspire to play at the highest level you can becuase at the end of the day you are only young once and there is a lot of time to think "what if".

As Tara said, there are stars running around at every (senior) level of football, who may want to stay with the club they love and not go somewhere just because it is a higher level.
I believe we have at least two and possibly four or five at the Jets who could play Premier seniors, and play well, but why would they want to travel halfway across the city to train (closest clubs ATM are Pennant Hills and Campbelltown - each 40 minutes away) and play when they can line-up with their mates five minutes down the road?
On the other foot, blokes who are in the 12-22 bracket at a premier league club could go back to a first division club - or from first div to SWS - and be 'stars'."It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

Humphrey I reckon we had 5 blokes that last year could have played Prem Div Seniors at South West last year. Im not saying they would be a walk up start but they certainly have the capabilities. There are a hell of a lot more factors involved to winning than a few good players you should know that.Comment

I have said it before and I will say it again, the best reserve sides from premier league, those being the Easts, Penno and ECE sides (in the previous two years) would win a flag in division 1. Those blokes that think other wise have no idea about footy. It's the same as the less talented swans players smash the opposition every week in the Canberra comp. Imagine Lohnro running around Scone against a bunch of nags destined for the glue factory. It's like compairing apples and oranges!Give it a wash!Comment

The top for ressie sides would take the top 4 spots on the ladder. The other 6 would be around the mark with the division 1 clubs. Is that a fair assessment?Give it a wash!Comment

1st Div has fallen away in recent years but I do think you are underestimating UTS. I would expect UNSW/ES to be fairly competetive at that level but for reasons of their own they remain in D2. I have found D2 to be a suprise packet though and now believe the 5 tier option that the AFL has looked at to possibly be a very viable alternative to what is currently in place even though it could prove a logistical nightmare.Comment

Tara
Isnt the UNSW/ES Div 2 team that you speak of the 3rd grade team at that club.
The 2nd grade team at that club is already in the premier league reserves. Isnt that proof about how much stronger the premier league is when their 3rd team is dominant in the lower division?Comment

Plus, only two of the ones I have in mind have played every game and neither are at their best due to lingering injuries."It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

It may have been helpful for a club like NorWest Jets in the last couple of years who only have the numbers to field one team, but that team being too strong for the division they were playing in. Early days yet, but possibly a similar story for SWS this year.

I dont know what has happenned to it Norris.
I have been very critical in the past of the NSWAFL however in my experience with them this year I can say they have been nothing but helpfull and supportive of what we are trying to accomplish( a refreshing change). Obviously we lack numbers which has made it impossible to field a competetive side in two grades over the past few years. This is something as a club we are addressing and taking responsibility for and firmly believe we will be back in 1st div in the not to distant future, and by saying that we dont intend to just make up the numbers when we do return.Comment
