BMR, his name is Ranga Ediriwickrama. I believe he was runner up in last year's Kearly Medal.
Rooboy, no, I am not jealous, I know a number of these kids personally and wish them all the best in their footballing endeavours. My point was that just because they have received a scholarship from an AFL club does not mean they are guaranteed a spot on an AFL list when eligible. At the end of the day, despite the clubs having first rights at the kid at the draft camp, they still have to prove to be a better "buy" than the other hundred or so kids there. It is simply my belief that people are putting the cart before the horse when they say "...when this kid gets drafted..."
All this from a club who had to ban a parent for two weeks very recently for extreme abuse of opposition players. "Stars" at what price I wonder.
Quality club this one...........
Pull your head in flobbinab. It shows your narrow-mindedness when you propose to judge a club by the actions of 1 person. Perhaps we should crucify St George for the 1st Grader who went the knuckle before the siren then? We won't of course, because 95% of the people who read this forum have a rational thinking brain. The other 5% (of which you are included) are still trying to put the circle piece into the square hole.

Oookkkaayyyyy, let's try this. Due to continued baiting and abuse by this particular parent and this clubs coaching staff an opposition player motions toward said parent, spraying profanties and looking for a fight, not a good look, but to a certain extent understandable, given what he has been copping from the sideline during the game, this is junior football FFS. Umps get the player under control and play continues, with the umps seeing the need for no further action. But no, this is not good enough for this particular club. Indeed this club sees fit to cite the opposition player and through an eventual tribunal hearing that the player gets a 2 match ban where under the circumstances a warning would have sufficed.

Thank you Junior. The reason I asked was there are/were Hawkesbury juniors at Westbrook and I wasn't sure whether it might have been one of them.
I spoke to someone from Penno (can't remember who) about Ranga during the finals last season and he was a big wrap for him, but I didn't know he was from Westbrook.
He has Sri Lankan heritage does he not?
And played a game for the Swans reserves earlier this year without having actually broken into the Penno senior team yet?
Spare a thought for the commentator when he does get a game.
Congratulations Ranga and good luck.

Off course you wouldn't know Penno are claiming him just like the others.
Aren't they great out there @ penno, burning the junior clubs in the area. they have been doing it for years.
Just worked out why they can't compensate Westbrook & other junior clubs in the area, they are 65K in the red from last year. This is from a club who deosn't pay playersHmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
The fact that there is a junior club called Pennant Hills doesnt mean it is the only junior club that feeds players to the Pennant Hills senior football club.
Pennant Hills junior club and for that matter Westbrook are just 2 of a number clubs that fall under the catchment of the senior club. Every senior club in Premiers or Div 1( perhaps with the exception of the unis) have a number of junior clubs that feed to the senior club.
Dylan Addison and Nick Davis were drafted from St Gearge but they didnt play junior football for a club called St Gearge. Did Paul Bevan play juniors at a club called Western Suburbs? Did Henry Playfair and Roberts Thompson play for a junior club called North Shore?
Given the name Westbrook is an amalgamation of West Pennant Hills and Cherrybrook and is based 5 minutes drive from Ern Holmes which senior club do you suggest they affiliate with?
You are spot on Mr Bear. Having played all my junior footy at Westbrook from U/9's to U/17's i can tell you that Pennant Hills Seniors is the only place that players will go to once they are too old for junior footy. Has been that way since Yardy finished at Westbrook back in the 80's and came to Penno and is still current today with players like Ranga coming through.
The Westbrook/Mac Uni union will provide another avenue for these players going forward, but you can guarantee the best ones will still come (not be co-erced like Rooboy thinks) to Penno Seniors because there are greater opportunites to further your footy.

And plenty of good players and coaches in between. There were about half a dozen Westbrook juniors in the Demons first senior flag.
You well heeled gents???? Isn't the new ECE home set for completion late this year? Won't talented players have another choice in the hills?
I will give you 5 years before you you merge with Mac Uni!!!!
