    Balmain V ECE

    Hi Gang,

Popped into the Sydney show grounds for the last half off Bal v ECE on sat before seeing the magpies humble the p**s weak swans.

My god Balmain are poorly lead. Also noticed online that Ash (D.Hallcapt) got into the best players.

Firstly let me set the record straight. Ash l assume is a decent bloke but as a footballer he is shocking. From what l could see Balmains whole game plane is based around Hally. He takes the kick out, lurks around consistanly for a cheap uncontested stat. He played as a loose player, but never maned up on a opposition player ONCE when ECE had the ball, whilst playing a loose role from down back, he positioned himself in the hole to stop ECE going forward, 5 times he ran directly out of the hole when the ball was coming in only to have a ECE player mark UNOPPOSED. Several times he burnt the player in a right positon only to be caught & the ball turned over to ECE.

Then he as capt got sent off, along with 4 others at different times of the qtr. Also noticed several players burn him even when he was the best option to go to. In short don't know why Bowls? or Kinnard are there they are classy footballers and would be welcome at all clubs (execpt for C/Town).

Hally/Ash play from the front and your players just may follow.

Allow some kids to play your soft role

    rooboy, summed it up perfectly.

of course hall was best he names himself every week.

bowles and kinnard were definately in the top three yet didnt get a mention.

the discipline shown by the coach showed no wonder they are in the position they are in, how many fifties and being sent off too for ten and the cheap shots behind play too with high elbows show what he is all about.

lets just hope for the juniors there they arent discouraged by yet another poor decision of a coach again they have chosen.

surely fremantle wouldnt like being associated with a lowly supported club which probably only had 15 supporters at best supporting the game and there own president running water.

still stand by my bet at the start of the season dockers for the spoon.

The real question is: can Balmain survive in first division?

They have few kids and burn who they do have, are last or second last in all grades, and have failed to convince most of last years 18s to play on.

As they compete for juniors with Sydney Uni, Wests and Easts a large influx of young talent seems unlikely.

And with no money to recruit from outside, but for a few scraps from the very small Drummoyne Sports Club, a decent list seems a long way off.

Its a shame but how long will they AFL put up with them?

Sure they would be strong enough in Div 1 in the short term.

As always in the long run it comes down to the admin and no matter which way you look at it they are in poor poor shape.

To be honest I think an 8 team comp in SFL and 10 in SFA is the ideal. Drop Balmain and Sydney Uni back down, too many inner-city clubs IMO.

                  Balmain Coach

Balmain are a rabble! They have poor leadership and administration off field and terrible leadership on it. Their coach sleeps with the light on and is the most uninspiring coach in the competition. A playing coach needs at least to put his head over the ball and drag other players into following his lead. Archer and Garner, although both past their prime would never get questioned in this area. I think Ash was taught as a youngster that they don't count kick outs in the stats. He has easily found a loop hole in this system by kicking to himself everytime he kicks out. I think he is the SAFL version of Scotty West, give him 40 touches and he still won't hurt you!
                  Give it a wash!

hall certainly does get alot of easy ball, and does love to let his arms and elbows let loose at times. did a few times that i saw, and i only saw about 30 mins of football.

Sledge, Hall throw his arms around? He doesn't get close enough to a player even his own players to throw his arms & elbows around.

You must be thinking of Kanga coach, hear on the grapvine that he punched one of his own players up & a night club.

                          Hen,

your online retort is over whelming. You're insightfulness & humor is extremely delightful. I have just had an ambulance called because my sides have split because of your quick wit & outlandish jokes. please stop it.

You must have work really hard at school. Your blended family would be proud of you & achieving year 7 at school is also a wonderful achievement. Well done HEN.

P.S. Your parents must be "with it" people as most elders wouldn't understand about 2 middle aged men leaving together counting stats & wearing matching tracking systems. Good on them l say.
