I was reading some old messages regarding a Sydney club playing in the Canberra competition. One thing that wasn't mentioned in these discussions was the fact that no Sydney club is good enough to compete in the Canberra competition. Despite the financial burden on any club doing this why would they want to suffer humiliating defeats every weekend. The AFL canberra competition is far too strong for any Sydney club to be competitive.
Sydney club going to Canberra?

Campbelltown competed in AFL Canberra for a few years during the 1990s, but that was a long time ago and a lot has changed in both competitions since then. The only other Sydney side in Canberra is the Swans' reserves, but that's another story.
As for the difference in standards between the leagues, that was once the case but the gap may be narrowing. In the rep game at Manuka between the two leagues a few of weeks ago there were only a couple of kicks in it.
