Agree about Wollongong being a great venue Mahtma but Hurstville Oval has both of them covered.

mahatma hit the nail on the head and once they spend the $2million on drummoyne oval it will be hard to beat

hurstville has a good surface it will be better than playing on that paddock where you play now anyway

Rosedale is better than all of them and now with new lights we may even get the odd night game. Hopefully the surface will be better than ever next year after the work they did earlier this year.
It would be a great Div 1/2 finals venue if we didnt have the cricket to contend with and the lack of parking at the ground (of and the short goal posts .

Hopefully all the councils can slowly realise that AFL is here to stay and start investing more money into the venues so that we dont have grounds reslembling cow paddocks in the near future.

Rosedale is a good ground but you can't say it's better than Drummoyne. The worst thing about prem div grounds is non players have to pay an arm and a leg to get in! I'm not short of a few squid myself but some of the prices are ridiculous for average home & away season matches. That's one good thing about Div 1 (& div 2..)
Is it a case of clubs just pluck a price out of the air to charge as an entry? If so what's the most expensive ground that your partner or mates have had to fork out to see you play?

Even better than the real thing!

I cant see th point of upgrading cricket grounds for Footy, you dont get full use of it,summer u can forget,as th precious white ones need a perfect surface. Its not even contact! But for all the grounds, cant think of any in sydney wit a similar ground next to it,so Bensons Lane is right up there, once we get our own ground without a turf pitch in th middle,it will make for one of very few Footy only grounds in town. And after being stung for parking at Mac Uni,gold coin donations at Bensons.Pay up or walk!

I'm pretty sure $7 is the basic price you will pay to get in, and that's not all grounds.

Drummoyne, Wagener and Monarch are the three that charge, which is $5 for entry and $2 for car parking.
I paid $4 for the car park at UNSW as well, but you can park on the street for nothing if you get there early enough, and it was $3 at Roger Sheeran as Pekay said.
Considering people going to country footy pay $8 (Coreen league) and $10 (Ovens and Murray) as a set price wherever you go, I think having free entry to any grounds is a bonus.

Speaking of the O&M, Wangaratta v Wang Rovers last Sunday attracted 4825 (town population 18,000). Not bad going at $10 p/h even allowing for player passes, freebies and holes in the fence. Oh for a Sydney footy crowd that big.

                          Mac Uni v Parra

Good game brewing at Mac Uni this weekend. Should be a good night match to determine 4th spot in the First Div ladder.

Granted, whoever takes 4th spot will be up against it next week against Manly, yet on their given day, anyone is a chance.

Both teams have put up very good performances against the top 3 this year at various times so there is no reason for this not to be a very good spectactle.

Good luck to both teams on Saturday night.

I'll back all that up. I've seen Parra at their best this year and I think they'll hold on to the finals spot with a 15-point win. However, Mac Uni does have the advantage of having played at night already this year so it wouldn't surprise if they got up.
