    The own medicine

Well. I believe this forum has been grossly misused in the passed 6 - 12months. A smattering of sensible, football related threads have found their way to light in between the glut of threads based solely on slander and libel. And usually when one of these sensible threads is started it is quickly taken over and the topic changed to bag out coaches, players or entire clubs. Discounting the regular match day details post regularly put up by Norris prior to the weekends matches, there has not been a single post regarding the Sydney AFL Prem division for well over a week. And even that was on the back of a slur at Balmain. My appologies, there is also the single post by The Spoiler regarding players that are leaving clubs.
Tonight is the Phelan Medal Count, there is the grand final luncheon on friday, the Big Day next saturday, we have had a number of upsets in the finals, and not a word has been spoken! ECE, Damien Hall, and Glenn Garner are no longer running around for the year so we all run out of things to talk about? Come on, lets talk about footy. Tips for the Phelan, how are North Shore going to score enough goals against St George's stingy defence, can Dugmore inspire his team again? Seriously, those are the topics this forum is designed for.

After saying all that, I want to totally contradict myself and question Pennant Hills' commitment. After going into the finals as raging favourites, the Demons slumped to two pathetic losses. What an absolute waste of space that club is. A quote from Boris a few weeks ago:

Boohoo Eagles. What about the way some of your players carried on in the GF last year when Smyth kicked that freak goal in the last quarter, running around putting there hands around there necks calling Penno players chokers?

    What goes around comes around

Indeed, what goes around comes around. The people on this forum who are from Pennant Hills, and I would suggest other people on this forum who barrack for the Eagles, should shut up until all things are said and done. Neither of your clubs have acheived anything this year. So stop pumping yourselves up because neither of you have anything to crow about. The demons looked like a bunch of girls this weekend and last, poor JB got a sore knee and everything fell apart. Spencer is too fat and slow, why he would think he could lift his team by putting himself in the ruck I don't know... stick to the goalsquare mate. Seb Parker takes some fantastic marks across half back, Im not sure how many of those have been contested, Im not sure that Sebastian has ever been in a contest his entire career, the pea-hearted fat kid. Speaking of fat kids, how a team can expect to win games when their leading goalkicker throughout the finals was a fat little forward pocket who likes nothing more than fighting other peoples fights. Oh yes, I got wind of that little tale quite quickly, quite a few people know of that one Clint. I hope all those blokes that get on here an just pot blokes go and jump.

Can we please realise that there is some decent footy being played in Sydney and agknowledge that. Manly won a terrific match on saturday, commiserations to the Sharks, best of luck to all the teams that are in grand finals this weekend, and to all the players looking for medals tonight. My tips, St George to go the double, Declan Donohue for the Phelan and the premiership.

Very well put doctor. I think you may be right but i wouldnt be surprised to see North Shore pinch the flag from the Crows. As they have shown over the last two weeks they are a very even side that doesnt rely on one or two key players and if something was to happen to Duggy i think the crows would struggle as they did last time they met. As for the Phelan who knows what the Muppets in Orange will come up with. Year after Year it seems that the votes that are dished up by them are very different to what we see at our B&F night and im pretty shore most other clubs might say the same.
The edge is not the limit, It's just the starting point...

I would just like to see the full list of votes published. I've been at nights where a team that won by a couple of points have not even polled a point from the umpires.

Norths are running hot - Saints dont want to have round 18 in the back of their minds. Having said that, I'll select the Sainters since a couple of magpies are running around there.
      Oh crikey!

Tip for the Phelan: Angus Darling... Has had an incredibly consistent year and his ground skills and ball winning ability around the ground for a 6'5 ruckman (with the second biggest head in the world) is astonishing, he basically plays as a ruck rover.

Tip for Premiers: Too bloody tough to call! Both teams are pretty well spread across the park and both teams can turn up to play or go missing on certain days... Toss a coin. I'd love to see Livy on Dugmore as a GF match up! Good luck to 'em both.

Prior to the past fortnight I would have said that Pennant Hills would be the team to beat for the premiership but unfortunately for those boys things can change pretty quickly. No need to slag them tho.

In regards to the boys in orange.... "No comment".... I leant my lesson last game. 2 week holiday for the fat pie eating pr*ck from UNSWES Bulldogs at the start of next year.

Jeez Doctor, you might want to do something about that bedside manner of yours. You won't get many referrals with drivel like that which you have just produced.

I'm not sure where to start here. Whether i retort to your cowardly lambasting of the 3 named Penno players, or our limp exit from the finals series, or your 1-sided story regarding Setto.

I'll leave your critique of our senior players as a misguided and opinionated attack. We were getting thumped yesterday and Laino in the Ruck was a 'caution to the wind' move. There were not many other options. Your crack at Seb is totally uncalled for. If you watched enough Penno games you'll see that he backs into more packs than most other blokes in the comp. Just watch the GF last year when he backed into a leading Seebeck and was split open. Don't question his courage son, you don't know @@@@.

Yesterday (and last week for that matter) was indeed disappointing. I think as a club we are nonplussed about the exit of our first grade. I think being favourites may have been a bit much for our young players to be honest. Last year they were underdogs and caused a boilover. I reckon the lesson they were taught in this series will stand them in good stead for the future because everyone knows you don't win flags in the H&A season. Having said that, there were more plusses to come out of this season from our footy club. Ranga and Scott Reed being 16 years olds with massive potential.

Your jibe on Setto regarding an 'incident' is only half true champ. Maybe you should do your research on the incident at Mona Vale Hotel last Thursday involving a sacked coach and several First Grade players from another club.

All that aside, Penno won a Third Grade flag on the weekend which was great for our club. We have 2 more sides featuring on the weekend to add to our tally for the year. We may not win 1st Grade, but will take flags in any grade to reward those who put the hard yards in all year.

And Doctor, do you know what 'Contradiction' means? Read your first paragraph about Libel and then your Pennant Hills bashing one. Go and take a pill you muppet.

Predictions - Duggy to be winning the medal by 9 votes with 6 rounds to go and get steam rolled by Dec Donohue. Scott Richmond to poll well late but he missed the first 6 games through injury.

Super to get a few votes in the games he kicked a bag in,.Livy,Hill, Ranga to all poll well.

El Gato makes good point though on trying to predict votes though. Last year a player got 3 votes in a match his side lost by 98 points in.

            Predictions for Sunday

            18's Norths by a point
Ressies - Penno by 45 points
Seniors - Saints by a point

                Almost spot on Shearer.
Peter Dugmore took a big lead early on with only Mark Livy keeping pace, but the matches he missed through injury proved to be one too many for the second successive year and he was run down in the last game by one Charlie Richardson from Pennant Hills.
A boilover for me, but nothing against Charlie, he's a great player with loads of potential - congratulations on your win.
Charlie finished on 16 votes to win from Dugmore and Penno's Alistair Richardson on 15.
Campbelltown's Troy Parker was perhaps the unlucky loser.
From all reports he was best on ground in round 18, but was reported in the match.
He was subsequently cleared, but the report ruled him out of receiving any votes and he finished on 14 - another top five finish for The Rooster.

Pennant Hills gun youngster Aaron Crisfield won the NAB Rising Star - which I believe was an excellent and obvious choice.
Sharks coach Jason Philp won his second successive Snow Medal by one vote from teammate Phil Hamer, ironically also by 16 votes to 15.
South-West Sydney's Adam Westwood was a landslide winner in Second Division's Armstrong Medal, polling 26 votes to beat Sydney Uni's David Owen by 10.
East Coast's Tim Physick and Tim Kear tied for the Sanders Medal for Premier Reserves.
Jack Scully from St George took the Kealey Medal for under 18 Premier Cup.
Manly's Tyrone Armitage won the under 18 Challenge Hart Medal, and the goalkicking as well - 56 goals for a midfielder is exceptional.
The first division reserves medal (I can't remember it's name, sorry) was a three-way tie, with the winners polling only eight votes each, and again, I might need a bit of help remembering who they were.
I believe Anthony Leach from UTS was one, and the others were from Manly-Warringah and Macquarie University.
I can only remember three leading goalkickers off the top of my head, being Brad Abbott (Premier Seniors), David Weightman (Second Division) and Tyrone Armitage (Under 18 Challenge).
Pennant Hills won the Premier Club of the Year and Southern Sharks took the gong in First Division.
                Congratulations to all the winners.
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

                    Ern,

Well done. For once we hear a sensible and well thought out reply from you that is not simply about having pot shots. It took someone to have a fair dinkum crack at your club for no reason before you managed to create a calculated and tolerable response. For the record, I was simply looking for a reaction and I got exactly the reaction I was after. I apologise if I offended with my jibes at the 3 players mentioned, I have nothing against them and believe all three are quality footballers. I know Laine has spent a bit of time in the middle this year and has accounted for himself quite well; Seb is obviously one of the premier players in this competition, highly regarded, and Clint's on field performances are something quite astonishing to watch. Again I only made these comments as a reflection of some comments that come from certain posters on this forum to demonstrate the ridiculousness and pointlessness of it.

Congratulations to all winners last night and good luck to all teams competing this weekend.

Oh and Ern, I do know the meaning of the word contradiction... hence why I used it in my post...

After saying all that, I want to totally contradict myself and question Pennant Hills' commitment

What a great night! Congrats to Chucky, he is a stand out footballer and a stand out bloke.

The thing that impressed me the most about the count was the ability of a UNSWES player to poll votes from the Emergency ward in the first round after leaving the ground in the first qtr and not returning to the ground until late into the game! Fantastic footballer, and fantastic judgement by the boys in orange, as according to the nurse he was in great form sitting in the waiting room.
