    Grand Final Day

Well, what a day that was. Perfect weather, the ground in reasonable shape. And three great games of footy, all of them well and truly up for grabs at the last change. For grand final day, you expect and want some close contests; and we weren't disappointed.

We don't announce crowd numbers, but I thought that was the best crowd I've seen at a Sydney footy game. A good atmosphere, with both sides having balloons and streamers to inject some colour; and the St George singers on the hill at the scoreboard end made plenty of noise.
The painted grass on the hill with the Sydney AFL logo looked great, as did the cars around the hill at the Sydenham Rd end.
And having the presentations in the grandstand rather than on a platform on the ground created a bit of a Wembley feel. I liked it.

yeah would have to say was a great game and a great day st george probably a little unlucky....got back from 21 points to within a couple and to north shores credit they kept going and won the game. Craigy getting injured and missing some of the game didnt help and also one player less from half way through second 1/4 put them on back foot early.

There was nothing to SPOIL my day yesterday. Leaky boat went onto rocks on the north shore.Navy boxing champion sent off. Captain Cutebit caught in storm with face of thunder. Mark Livy joining phantom at the opera with mask attachment.Big crowd witnessed a great day.Only 26 weeks till next season. I will be counting them down. Will the navy sail away? Will East Coast continue to pilfer Balmain's low stocks? Is there a Curzon Hall package up for grabs? Have they got an offer to Bowles you over!? 7 new coaches needed. One applicant is of French extraction. Another will have you Salem away. Will a couple of clubs fold.......?
Oh I do love to be by the seaside....!!! Perhaps a "class action" Ken?

It was a good fightback from St George late in the third quarter to get the margin back to a kick. And then when Percy had that set shot 30 out early in the last quarter to level the scores - if he'd kicked that, the whole momentum of the game could have changed. But well done to North Shore, who stood up when the game was there to be won.

My spies tell me the ROOSTER was seen at Phelan Meadel Night "@@@@ - a - doodle - dooing" with a high ranked official from a rival club and accepted a business card while "yolediling" his talents. Could he be Docking elsewhere in 2008?

What is it with this Lowry bloke?
Couldn't get a kick with Campbelltown (back in about 1999)
Couldn't get a kick with Nth Shore
Then basically wastes his chance at St George.

i cant understand how Livy got away with belting Cole right in front of the emergency & field umpire's and knocked him out. St George couldnt even get a free kick for it.

It wasnt infront of the emrg umps they were situated at least 20 metres away form the incident and the field umps like a lot in the crowd didnt get a clear view of what occured.

if you had ever met Dan lowry you wouldnt talk talk about him like that.
He is a sensational bloke, who is one of the best blokes at our club.
He is great with young guys and has time for everyone
he belted Livy becuase Livy belted Coley. He was looking after his mate.
does anyone honestly think the punishment was fair, giving we didnt even get a kick when Livy knocked out coley ????????
