    Congratulations and best of luck to St George key forward James Wilsen, who is training with the Kangaroos during the pre-season.

      I believe he is, but as far as I can see on that list, he's the only one training with a team in the pre-season.

      Of course Craig Bird (Sydney) and Taylor Walker (Adelaide) will both be drafted under the same scholarship scheme, but neither are from the Sydney AFL.

            So after the first full year of the Scholarship program, 2 players have gone onto senior lists and 3 Sydney-based players have made it onto rookie lists. It's the best draft rate we've had from NSW for quite a few years.

            It won't be compulsory for clubs to sign scholarship players next year - it will be interesting to see which AFL clubs take up the option. There's some talented players around who, if they get the opportunity, will make a good fist of it.
