    Stats from the old days

I'm looking for photos, info and stats and basically anything from Sydney footy in the 60's, 70's and 80's.

There's a fair bit of info around from the first 10-20 years of the SFL but bugger all after that.

I've found full points footy but that's also fairly limited as well.

    Any help will be appreciated...

Dunger's mentioned Full Points Footy, which has the ladders from every season and the grand final score. By following that from year to year, you can see the turnover of teams that has happened over the years.
I don't have a lot of information about the 1960s to 1980s. But one key development that took place in 1971 was the formation of the SFA (now known as First Division) - until then there was only one division of Australian football. Until then, any gaps in a team's participation would have been a club going into recess; but since then some clubs have gone down and later been promoted again, such as Balmain and Sydney Uni.

Another online information snippet that may help you is this section on the Sydney AFL website - it's about 5 years old and out of date, but it has some early information on the history of the clubs. Particularly of interest would be the club profiles of Pennant Hills, East Coast Eagles, Campbelltown and Wollongong; clubs that were formed during the period you're interested in.

Hopefully if anyone else has anything of interest they can post or let Dunger know about it. And Dunger, if you find anything interesting about the history of Sydney football, we'd love to hear about it on here. Good luck!!!

the most imformitive and compelling website to explore the history of australian football in sydney can be found at the following address.

it gives you information and stories from the past that will have you amazed and astounded as well as disapointed when you read of the wasted opportunities that could have seen aussie rules as king of the sporting codes. the story of james phelan and the ralph robertson saga, the aussie rules ground at roseberry and the history of erskinville oval are just a few of the classic tales.
read it. you will be entralled.
