    looking for a new club.

Hi guys, I?m new to this forum. Am thinking about a move to Sydney for work and wanting to play a bit of football. I?ve got a few questions that hopefully someone can help me out with so that I can make a decision of what team I want to join:

Gameplan ? am looking for a team that plays running football as I am an outside (yes, soft? copped it all my life!!) player.

Mates ? which team is the closest knit ? as I don?t know many ppl in Sydney, I?d like one that socialises both at football and away from fooball

Facilities ? who has the best facilities, and what level are they at.

Licensed clubs ? are teams there supported by a licensed club?

Strength/success ? obviously I don?t want to go and play with the worst teams in the league, one that will be relatively successful or at least competitive in the upcoming years.

How strong is the league? How does it compare to others in your honest opinion?

Coach ? I prefer coaches who instill disciplne in the team to do the right things, play to the game plan etc but also allow for taking the game to the opposition and challenging them in one on one situations.

Ok, that?s all I can think of at the moment? I?ll probably come up with more questions. Thanks for your time, any help would be great.

Its a big city mate, all depends where you're gona move to. Also perhaps you should put on here the level you've played previously so any prospective clubs can put their details up. There is Premier Div-semi pro, 1st Div-amateur and Div 2 which is a level below 1st Div. If you're out in the north west of sydney there are a few choices- East Coast Eagles-affiliated with West Coast and arguably the best run club in Sydney(here comes the abuse!)or Nor-West Jets at Richmond. Go to SportingPulse Homepage for Sydney AFL for a look

Try the Swans, they seem to meet most of your needs.

Even better than the real thing!

True, and they could pay you all the money you think you're worth.

                  John.....What The?!?!?

John, if you find this "magical" club that you seem to think exists, please let us all know and we'll be at training on Tuesday.

Seriously, have a look at the Sydney AFL website, pick a team that has colours you like (sorry no pink or lemon-yellow jerseys out there) and turn up to training, it's not rocket science mate.
                  Time to play the Game!!!

John, a lot depends where abouts in Sydney you're going to be living and working in. Like Pekay said, it's a big city; and after work you won't have long to get to training, and Sydney traffic is shocking.
Beyond that, it depends what level you want to play at. Premier Division is considered the strongest comp, which although it's the weakest of the state leagues would compare favourably to most regional leagues. Then there's First Division and Second Division. Premier Division and First Division also have reserve grade; and some clubs field teams in more than one division.

Good luck, and if you do end up making the move to Sydney hopefully you'll find a club where you'll be happy and make a contribution to growing the game up here.

If anyone knows of a team who does wear pink or lemon yellow jerseys, pass details on to Marto, was apparently given out off the bowling of a lady on the weekend and was last scene hiding in the hills.

Wise one, your facts are a little off, she was more of your school girl type bowler than your lady type.
