The long off-season is finally over and finally the new season is upon us. Optimism reigns supreme with all clubs set to unveil their new-look lineups that they hope will take them up the ladder in the new season.
Best wishes to all players, coaches and officials for the season ahead.
In an innovative way to start the season, all senior teams will play back-to-back in a 5-game marathon at Henson Park on Saturday. The schedule is:
9:00am - Sydney University v Balmain
11:40am - Western Suburbs v Wollongong
2:20pm - Pennant Hills v Campbelltown
5:00pm - East Coast Eagles v UNSW-ES
7:40pm - St George v North Shore
As per previous seasons, late starters and non-tippers in any round get the lowest score.
Post your tips for the games on this thread.
My tips:
Sydney Uni
Wests
Pennant Hills
East Coast
North Shore
Sydney Uni by 6 Goals. S.U. have recruited very well and will be a force within the next 5 years if they continue promoting young players. Although Balmain have done some recruiting, can't see their year being any better than last year.
Wests by 3 goals. Will be a tight game between two average teams.
Pennant Hills by 8 goals. Would have picked Penno by 100, but seem to be plagued by injury. However, have good depth to cover two heavy losses. Campbelltown have lost too many players to match last years performance.
UNSW by 7 points. In the closest game of the day, UNSW's tall timber will have the edge over Garner's well-drilled Eagles.
St George by 3 goals. In an extremely tough and emotion-filled grand final replay, St. George will be desperate to start on the right foot to go one better this year. Norths have lost a bevy of talent, which they will struggle to cover. St. George have lost a few, but have recruited well and continue to develop local juniors. Look for at least one biff.
Sydney University by 25 points
Western Suburbs by 17 points
Pennant Hills by 52 points
East Coast by 28 points
North Shore by 10 points
"It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.
