    The Rep side

Looks like a pretty strong rep side. Great to see Richo as the skipper, good bloke and a good player. I think the conditions may even it up a bit although I still think the Amo's will win by 6-8 goals. Intersted to hear everyones thoughts.

P.S I hope everything is ok with BMR. Sounds like he may not be involved with the boys from Digital for a little while. Whatever he is out of action I hope he comes back. A real SydneyAFL personality who loves his footy!

I'll be down in Melbourne over the long weekend so I won't get to see it - I just hope there'll be a game. So far as I know Henson's still open.

It's a good thing there wasn't any club games scheduled - I would hazard a guess that if there were, the closed sign would be up on just about every ground this weekend.

Going by the team lists, VAFA should win.

Five former AFL players is pretty good for an amateur comp.

Just a quick note. The Sydney AFL rep game is on Sunday. The NSW/ACT Rams are playing Vic Metro at Henson tomorrow (Saturday)

With the AFL/NSW now designating the June long weekend as *the* rep weekend there are rep fixtures all over Sydney this weekend.

In addition to the Henson fixtures there is Junior footy at Marrickville.

With the $$$$ AFLNSW has put into the Henson resurface = Marrickville council well on side therefore all the Henson and above fixtures are going to go on rain hail or shine (weathers looking OK this arvo anyway).

And also at the Showground we've got some youth footy, U13 on Sat and U14 on Sunday.

Noticed the side picked for the First Div Rep Team playing in Wagga this weekend. There seems to be a couple of players in it that i wouldnt have thought would be up to it, does anyone know if this is because alot of the better players made themselves unavailable or are injured etc.Or is it not heald in any regard to the guys in the lower divs(Maybe Pekay can shed some light).

Also noticed that Stephen Hudson from Wests is only an emergency for the Top side which is very suprising, IMHO he is one of the quality players in the competition.
The edge is not the limit, It's just the starting point...

Pace, looking at the names in the First Div rep team, obviously there are a few certain starters that aren't there, blokes i would put in if all the cards fell right, but all those players do figure in their team's best every week, so it could (and probably should) still be regarded as "the best of the best".
From all accounts though, plenty turned up to the first few sessions but didn't put much thought into the remainder of the selection. I've always had the thought that its the pinnacle of footy, any comp, so you send your best and have a red hot dip. One of our boys (my housemate in fact)was unlucky, in that he trained his guts out, made the final 25, and was sent to Darwin for work last sunday for a month, so there would be a few circumstances that stopped some players going.
I'm pretty disappointed, as i had an eye on it from mid last year, got fit, was looking forward to having a go, but had hand surgery at start of pre-season so had to miss out, as i was too far behind by then. Not to say i'd have made it, but would've loved the chance to have a go, and of course be involved.
All in all, i think its a very strong side, could always be stronger, but Chook has a great chance at cleaning up Pool B with the cattle he has.
On a side note, perhaps it was me having a go at the previous head of the league that made Div 2 clubs eligible for selection. Shows that Garry B has alot more foresight than previous people.
Good luck Chook and the boys, bring home the bacon!!

Thanks wedge. I met Renato a few times many, many years ago, didn't know he had a kid.

                              Division 1 rep side

                              Gents,

A number of players due to work commitments and injuries from previous weekend had to pull out at the last minute after training over the last 4 weeks, whilst there were a few surprises, every player acquitted themselves well on the field.

                              Sydney won their pool unbeaten.

Syd 28 drew with Saphire Coats 28
Syd 47 def Nth Coast 39
                              Syd 28 def Canberra 21

Sunday crossover with pool one resulted in a 111 to 39 loss to the Hulme with only 20 players fit to take the field after Saturdays games, halftime score was 82 to 3 so 2nd half effort was pleasing.

Team bonded well both on & off the field and are looking forward to the concept continuing.

Sydney players player was Tyrone Armitage (Manly)

As part of the coaching staff, it was a privilege to work with such a good bunch of blokes who represented their clubs well.

Only wish the ventilation was working on the bus on the way home as it was badly needed after some well earned celebrations.
