Not as bad as people think

Albeit not a win, but after another narrow loss against a stronger league, is it possible that the Sydney AFL may start to get a little respect for how far forward the standard has come in the past few years?

Well done to Danny Ryan and the team, and also to Peter Free and his first division squad on winning Division Two of the State Championships.
    A successful weekend allround IMO.

    Did you actually go BEA?
I don't know about stronger league as the VAFA are amateurs, but surely this game should be played every year.
Would love to see the sfl play in Melbourne next year.
Who would win SFL or ACT and have they played recently

it is my understanding that it will alternate between VAFA and AFL Canberra each year, so we are due to play AFL Canberra here in Sydney next year, and the following year head to Melbourne to play the VAFA.
If somebody says to you, "Can I ask you a question?"....isn't it a little too late?

Bedford, unfortunately I couldn't make it due to illness (which is going okay at the moment), but I just thought I had to comment with all the talk on this forum (mainly other boards by the uninitiated) about how poor the Sydney AFL is supposed to be.
Last year the SAFL lost to Canberra in Canberra by 14 points after getting within two points with five minutes to go, so the gap is definitely closing.
Obviously we're not up to the standard of the big three (VFL, SANFL, WAFL), but I believe we deserve to be rated on the next level with the AFLC, VAFA and AFLQ.
Tune in to Aurora Foxtel Channel 183 tomorrow night (Wednesday) at 9pm and form your own opinion.

I agree - we're well short of the "big 3" leagues, but gradually closing the gap.

I was in Melbourne over the long weekend and didn't make it to the rep game, but I'll be watching with interest tomorrow night.
