The 2008 Ralph Robertson Lecture will be held this Friday Evening (15 August) at Club Swans, Darlinghurst Road Kings Cross.
This is an annual event sponsored by the NSW Australian Football History Committee.
The subject for the lecture is "The Debate Over The Origins Of The Game".
John Harms of The Melbourne Age and the ABC's Offsiders will present his views on this very vexed issue. He is a renowned Geelong supporter who will catch the Swans v Geelong game the following day but more particularly has some very definite views on where the game came from which he will expand on during his talk.
Swans Chairman, Richard Colless together with Rick Quade and Rhys Muldoon will make up a varied panel who will join with John to discuss the subject and take questions from the floor.
The parenial Craig Davis will be the MC.
The evening is FREE (you don't get many freebies these days - and there are no catches to this one).
It starts at 7:00pm and will go through to about 8:30pm. Parking is available in the parking station in Ward Avenue.

It should be a great evening in this 150th Anniversary Year of the game with almost 100 already booked in. Greg de Moore, author of a recently relased book on Tom Wills, the alledged founder of the game will be on hand and may participate in the discussion. He will have copies of his book for those who are interested.
Ralph Robertson was a famous Sydney Footballer who played with East Sydney and North Shore between 1903-14.
In his 37 appearances for NSW he was captain on a known 26 occasions. During that period he captained the NSW State Team in three separate National Carnivals however was unfortunately killed 1917 whilst flying a bi-plane in Egypt in WWI.
