Scott Reed joins Collingwood Rookie List

Congratulations to Pennant Hills' Scott Reed. The first player to be signed under the Scholarship program when it was announced in 2006, and after taking out the Podbury Medal in the grand final, Reed has been signed with Collingwood onto their rookie list for 2009.

Good to see another who learned their footy in the BDAFL region make it to the big time. Scott learnt his footy at The Entrance Bateau Bay footy club before going to Pennant Hills

This line in that article really caught my eye:

"New rules mean rookies can be played in the first ten rounds if a major injury occurs and can be called up from round 11 should their form warrant their selection."

If I read that correctly, for the first half of the season the situation is the same as it is now, place somebody on the long term injury list and elevate a rookie, but after that, if a rookie is burning the place up, you can just select him.

I have googled and have not found any reference to this rule change at all.

      Anybody else ??????

BTW, well done to the kid. Hopefully see you back at one of the 2 Sydney clubs in a few years as a solid senior player
Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09

For those who like their history, his father David played with Baulkham Hills as a junior and Pennant Hills before moving the the Central Coast and playing with Bateau Bay.
