Clubs to reply to the league by Jan 2 with the final draws due out by Jan 9.
Bit later this year than last, but it's important to get it right.
And it's still much earlier than three years ago.

All comps will then have a general bye for Easter with round 2 on April 18.

The other interesting one is that Cronulla are referred to as Southern Power, not Southern Sharks in all grades. Is there something we don't know?

Thanks BeeEmmAre. Looks like some interesting matches first up - especially the grand final replay at Ern Holmes.

Do we know yet whether the Sydney AFL will be on TV this year?

Not too bad for us, our Ressies only play 4 times on the same day at a diff ground to our seniors(all away games) so i can live with that if it means them being more competitive each week

                  seems ok

the draw seems ok to me.

does seem to even out the lower divisions. be a brave man to predict the premiers across the grades..just seems so hard to predict.

for what its worth, my early favourites are

                  prem UNSW
                  1st ECE
                  2nd Mac uni
                  3rd Norwest
                  4th ??? sydney uni??
                  18's north shore
                  18's challenge sydney uni

draw looks ok but seems strange that our 2nd round sees our 3 teams play on 3 different days, seniors on the sunday & our ressies playing at Trumper at the same time the Swans play on the saturday afternoon & our 18's playing on a friday night??

I'm surprised there's any games in any grade on the same day as the two Swans' Saturday games. But I think it looks pretty good.
Our round one has seniors and reserves playing at the same time at different grounds which will be a test, but we should be ok I think

The clashes with the Swans surprised me, but I think the draw looks good.
We've got a record number of night games this year. North Dalton's had lights for a couple of years, last year we saw Sydney Uni, Macquarie Uni and Rosedale light up; and Bruce Purser opens this season.

As Redsox mentioned, the lower divisions look a lot more unpredictable and evenly matched. If that's how the season unfolds, with more even contests and less blowouts, the re-grading system will be a success.

Draw looks great in all grades, we have a few issues with travel, but not concerned, we can and will make it work.
Looking forward to the twilight game against Moorebank, and the full day of footy with the East Coast/Nor-West gala day at Purser, should be a great day of footy, our boys will find a nice spot in the sun and sit there til the moon comes out (and the Fiddler is on the way home too!)
Another great opening game is UTS v Manly GF replays in the Div 1 & 2, should be cracker games at Trumper.
Whole comp looks balanced, everyone should be looking forward to Round 1.

Well i heard the news on saturday arvo from a reliable source but thought i wouldn't look as though i was spreading rumours, but its on the league website now, Daryn Cresswell announced as player coach at Manly Wolves for this year, quite a coup for them and Sydney footy, he certainly slipped under the radar there! Just made life a bit harder for those Div 1 teams i reckon.

Talking about spreading rumours pekay. There should be some interesting news coming out of the blues in the next couple of weeks. Some big name players that may or may not have put pen to paper could be/have reneged on said contracts(allegedly) and put pen to paper somewhere else. And it's more than one bloke. (half the club from what I here)
