Thanks for the responses, I'm just generally curious. Basing it just on playing the 18 games of the regular season, ignoring finals/injuries/hangovers/whatever we're talking roughly about the following;
Middle of the road ($150 per): $2700
Top tier ($350 per): $6300
Rumoured insanity ($600 per): $10800
I can definitely see at the top end why people would move between clubs. How many guys on a team would actually be getting some money for it? I'm assuming that less than half the guys playing firsts for a team get paid at SFL level?
If we guess at half the team and just say 10 guys get paid, that's a playing pool budget of 1 * $6300 and 9 * $2700- so around $30k pa for player payments. Would that be about right? Where does the money come from? If from an affiliated licensed club, is there a bit of concern at the moment with clubs making losses (e.g. Parra Leagues)? If you'd rather not say in case the ATO randomly trawls the Internet then that's cool.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Dont know how well the VFL police their cap but those figures look right. The leagues below the VFL certainly dont mind throwing money about though.Comment

Has there ever been any talk of a salary cap being enforced for the SFL? Or is it a case of "if you can find the money good luck to you!"? Do the bush leagues have salary caps?
Sorry for all the mindless prattle.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

clubs in victoria have a team points value so that teams are not full of out of towners or recruits from other clubs. some teams are forced to play with less than 22 players if their points are over the limit. alot more involved but works.Comment

Some of the figures thrown around seem abot riite. not 100percnt on SFL though. about 4 years ago i was paid $750 a game playing footy in the Victorian Amatuers D2 comp. Your not susposed to pay your players in that comp, it all under the table. But i paid them back with a B&F and BOG in our Grand Final win over Ruperstwood. Comp wasnt that good, and I totally smashed it up. Pretty much easy money like tajking candy from a baby.Comment

. I reckon guys from outside sydney are fair game but could work with people changing from club to club.
