Apparently Rd 1 Gong Vs Wests has been moved to Henson. I did not find any word of this on the sydneyafl site though.

Confirmation of that is now on the Sydney AFL website. Thanks Coastal.

Let's hope this rain doesn't see too many more grounds closed off.

Sydney AFL Game Day - 4-5 April (cancellation & fixture change thread)

What do people think? Likely ground closures and relocation/postponed?

Henson Park? - Back to back games and with the dockers new expansive running game, could see alot more of the ground (not necessarily the corridoor)chewed up on Sunday [Hot tip for all you tipsters out there]

        Gore Hill Oval?

        Olds Park?

        Ern Holmes Oval?

It was absolutely pissing down yesterday, and I was thinking the same thing - that they'd do what was needed to get the Premier Division games played but call the rest off. But it seems to have eased off now.
The weather forecast suggests there's still a few showers around, but the worst of it is behind us. I think we should be OK - but with some of the councils, who knows....

Only need one of the other grounds open to complete a full round of premier div as they can use monarch on both sat and Sun as it never shuts and we are at Henson which is good in the wet.
The edge is not the limit, It's just the starting point...

My money's on Trumper and Gore Hill to be closed

I think the inspection at Camden is to see if it actually rained rather than the condition of the ground.

Ern Holmes Oval CLOSED - All matches transferred to Bruce Purser Reserve
Gore Hill Oval Council Inspection - 3pm
              Henson Park OPEN
Olds Park Council Inspection - 4pm
Trumper Park Council Inspection - 2pm
              Gwawley Oval
Harrington Park Council Inspection - 11am
              University Oval OPEN
Rosedale Park CLOSED - New Venue to be confirmed
              Village Green OPEN

Pennant Hills v East Coast Eagles has been moved to Bruce Purser. Unfortunate for Penno on a day when they were hoping to unfurl their premiership flag - but these things are out of our control. Not sure if they'll unfurl it on enemy territory or hold off until their next home game.

Rosedale and Camden are off - no word yet on whether they've been able to find other venues.

Councils will be inspecting other grounds later today - but it's not looking good.

Gore Hill's been given the all-clear - North Shore v UNSW-ES goes ahead as planned. Awaiting pitch inspections at Olds Park and Trumper.

Olds Park is closed - the matches there have been switched to Mahoney Park on Sunday. The games from Trumper have been moved to Pittwater.
The games from Rosedale & Harrington have been postponed. (must have actually got some rain in the catchment this time....)

Good luck to all players and teams who read this board for the weekend - let's hope we get some great footy.

Word is that the Olds Park playing surface is absolutely fine to play one, but the local council have a big community day on Sunday that is expected to draw 1000's and didn't want any damage to the grass.

Just because Ern Holmes got closed and Penno had to travel to the pristine Bruce Purser Oval didnt mean they had to leave the silverware at home too...or was that a sign of over-confidence?
