    Balmain and Campbelltown relegation

    Can anyone tell me:

    Did the clubs of Balmain and Campbelltown have any say when their 2s were relegated at the end of last season?

    Did UTS and Manly ask/want to be promoted and did they want to go straight to Premier league?

    Did the clubs vote or any any input on the promotion/relegation system or was the new system just told to them?

    Are the rules for this system set in stone and for how long? If a team gets relegated will they always have the opportunity to re-enter their old division(say in 5 years time) or might the rules change and the "house full" sign go up?

    I wonder if anyone from St George, Wests or Wollongong(current at the bottom of 1st div) have any opinion on what relegation might do to their club next year.

      Financially it would be a big burden, also volunteers are hard enough to come by as it is and if our reserves were to come down it would stretch that even further. From a club point of view it would pretty demoralising & one that would be pretty unfair.

      I think our ressies have missed the finals once in 10 years and because of one bad season our club would be punished. To me that is very disappointing but they are the rules that we have to put up with.

          I think clubs were asked to nominate which division they wanted to play in

              Hmmm - try finding club umpires for all your games like the Div 3 and 4 sides have too then talk about stretching your volunteers.... The only reason Wests, St George and Wollongong stayed up was so the league could get the change through in the first place. Not sure about Mac Uni, But I know Parramatta were gutted to miss Div 1 as were the Power. If the three clubs above want to compete in Div one long term you will need a third lower Div side to do so....

                  Why should a lower division club be rewarded to play up a division to gloat that they can compete with the higher division reserve grade club if their club as a whole is not ready to improve and apply to join the Premier Division. The whole relegation system is a JOKE. Clubs that are not capable of joining the top league should not be the ones playing division 1, but should be happy to dominate division 2. Let the clubs in Premier League have their magoos running around on the same day at the same ground. If the lower division club such as Parramatta are gutted at missing out then maybe they should have worked harder in years gone by to keep themselves at a competing level to remain in premier league. As previously mentioned at this stage and probably for the next few years to come, only Manly and UTS appear capable of making the transition to Premier league. No other club in the lower divisions, including Parramatta could.
