Every other state comp in Australia (eg SANFL, VFL, WAFL, QAFL) does not have the card system - it is only used in lower leagues where the thugs actually play.
If we are serious about professionalism of the comp then it should be the same. And if players do get reported then the tribunal sentences should be harsh to help strengthen the point.Comment

You obviously missed the Saints North Grand Final a couple of years ago - the SFL still has a fair few thugs running around and is a mile behind the standard of the VFL, SANFL and WAFL. Its going to take a lot more than removing the red card system to improve the standard up here.Comment

@@@@ decisions are one thing, happens in every game ever and can't be changed... but it's when there's a lot of cheap shots and the like and an umpire can't take control properly until it ends in an all in brawl (esp at lower levels) is a much bigger worry for mine.Comment
