Playing AFL - Sydney - North Shore

    Hey all,

I have no idea if I'm posting this in the right forum, I've looked everywhere and this seems like the best one. I used to play AFL back in school and I've been toying with the idea of starting up again. I used to live in Newcastle (played for Newcastle City Football Club) but now I live on the North Shore in Sydney. I'm 23 years old, a pretty good kick, go to the gym a lot and have a competitive streak.

Can someone explain to me how I can get started again in the sport? Are there any comps in the Sydney area that would be suited to me? Clubs? I've tried the playafl.com.au site but it seems like its targeted at younger players. I'm obviously not young anymore so I just want to play on a recreational basis for the fun of it. I also race karts and that is my #1 sport where the majority of my time and effort will be directed towards.

    Thanks,

    Dylan.

If footy will be your secondary focus behind karting, try playing lower grades, Lane Cove is probably closest to Mac Uni, playing good footy in Division 2. Look at www.muafc.com.au
Good luck with your pursuits, and welcome to Sydney footy

Well if you live at Lane Cove, just jump on the M2...join up with the M7, turn right at the M4 and you're only 10 minutes away from Greygums Oval. There is a spare spot for you too !

Seeing as though you're obviously very closely linked to the club, maybe you'd like to disclose some of these amounts players get paid. You seem to have a great insight as to what they're paid.

Hey Dylan, our senior 2 teams have a bye this weekend with our third grade playing at home Saturday 12 pm. Following week all 4 teams are playing at home. In the meantime feel free to come down for a run Tues & Thurs, and take it from there. You will be welcome to come down

Are new players allowed to be registered after June 30 or is the limitation for transfers only???

if you have registered with another club within last 2 years you need a clearance, of which window has closed.

Do as any other football team in Aust (especialy NSW) play him under another name.

Forget playing for North Shore. They are not interested in new/old/ or young players that are not instant premiership players. If you just want to play footy go to any of the other clubs but not north shore.

In all honesty, this message board is nothing but detrimental to footy in sydney.

A guy gets on and asks a simple question of where to play and he gets almost 2 pages of negative drivel (barr a few helpful posts)

IMO this entire forum should be locked untill every member can have their identity verified. Only then would we have serious and beneficial debate about sydney footy rather than a site full of rubbish.

As for where to play in Sydney - best you do your own research. Check websites, ask around but DONT READ THIS FORUM!

If this forum is as bad as you make out why don't you take your own advice and don't read it
