I think Etta's "good authority" is well off the mark too. Agree with PTB from my "good authority".
A couple of players I know are getting "two figure" payments....ot that is what they claimed at the time. And I am pretty sure they weren't claiming that figure for tax purposes.

I tyhink that some of those figeres thrown around are well over estimated! when i sounded out clubs at the beging of the year about playing in Ssydney,, the best offer I got was around $150 a game plus petrl money. now to repect to Cambelltown I didnt aproach them because of the proximity to the unit I own but I couldbnt image they'd be to much highr than ball park figures that I got from at least 3 other clubs. At the end of the day I;d rather stay where i am in Nelson bay (north or Necastle) cause its an easier legue and so easy to samsh it up and to play with mates. anything that Sydney clubs can offer fpor plsayers only (ie not a player coach) is preaty much small change to me snf i guess few other guys who no what there doing

        Bingo Pete,

I hope you were asking to be paid for your football ability and not your spelling.

Put some of that small change together and shout yourself a new keyboard.

Did you email the clubs? It may have been they were trying to speak your iphone language in the replies and assumed you would know $150 really meant $1500 per game. Oh dear.

It's EVERYONE's responsibility to contribute and promote the game.

If its an unknown how will those uninitiated know weather it's the game for them?
You know it makes sense. I'm 1%a

I have no idea if I'm posting this in the right forum, I've looked everywhere and this seems like the best one. I used to play AFL back in school and I've been toying with the idea of starting up again. I used to live in Newcastle (played for Newcastle City Football Club) but now I live on the North Shore in Sydney. I'm 23 years old, a pretty good kick, go to the gym a lot and have a competitive streak.

Can someone explain to me how I can get started again in the sport? Are there any comps in the Sydney area that would be suited to me? Clubs? I've tried the playafl.com.au site but it seems like its targeted at younger players. I'm obviously not young anymore so I just want to play on a recreational basis for the fun of it. I also race karts and that is my #1 sport where the majority of my time and effort will be directed towards.

                      Thanks,

                      Dylan.
