Last week we saw Pennant Hills easily defeat comp leaders Southern Power in the 18's CC. This week we see Pennant Hills forfeit to Penrith. I realise that last week Penno (again) stacked their side with PC players, but it is disappointing that clubs get enthusiastic about fielding a team when they think they can win and take the easy option out when it looks like they will get beaten. Surely clubs should be able to go to their junior football clubs and round up a couple more players to play up (esp in Northside Comp where juniors play Sunday).Comment

here's an example;
Wests (stone motherless in PC 18's and struggling) could only field 16 against Norths (defending premiers, but under siege this year ... lost 2 games, but still top of the table of course!) last week, so ...
Norths played their full squad with 18 on the park ... predictably, they won by 25 goals.
... must have impressed all the dignitaries being the curtain raiser for the Rep game at BlacktownComment

... oh, you thought it was all about developing the sport on the "Darkside" ...?

I really think that the Prem Cup/Challenge Cup needs to be overhauled. Struggling PC teams should be relegated to CC if they cannot produce a squad of 27-30 at the start of the season. Challenge Cup teams such as Southern Power, Moorebank, Penrith etc have fielded 22 each and every week this year. Better them being in Prem Cup than having the struggling teams in PC run around with half a side.Comment

It was Campbelltown who could only field 16 players against North Shore in the Under 18s curtain raiser.
I was surprised to see they only had 16 there. With the Premier Division and Second Division teams having the week off, surely they had some players in those teams who are under 18 who could have lined up for the under-18s thay day.

I stand corrected
I am surprised that Campbelltown and/or the umpires didn't enforce the rules. If a team has 16,17 or 18 players, then it is 16 aside.

Agreed, but I'm pretty sure this is the case.
It's been a goal of ours for the past couple of years to get to a level where we could put a team in Premier Cup. Ideally they'd maintain a system of promotion/relegation like they do in most of the senior divisions to encourage clubs like yours and mine to push on.Comment

Then why were Sydney Uni ever admitted to the Challenge Cup? as it is its a farce that they are there.
To be honest though just because a club currently has Prem Div status doesnt mean it will always be the case. Over the past twenty years we have seen Sydney Uni, Parra and Balmain move up down and around. If a club can slowly lay the right foundations and build themselves into a postion of strength then the door to Prem Div is open I believe.Comment
