    Pekay's injury

Judging by all reports it sounds horrific, but am sure the guy will bounce back and make a full recovery.

From all of us in Sydney footy, best regards Pekay.

Sends a shiver through you just thinking about it. Terrible stuff and all the best for your recovery.
Thinking about chasing Doormat will surely help with your rehab.

Thanks guys, hoping for a hospital discharge today after i get a new cast on, then back in for MRI later this week when swelling reduces.

It was a clean break through tib and fib bones, just below knee, and the sideways impact from Swanny (UNSW/ES) and his big frame, coupled with the pace he was moving at, has snapped both medial ligaments on both sides of the knee, and the MRI will confirm the my Anterior and Posterior cruciate ligaments have snapped off the bone as well. SO hoping to one day return to playing, but remaining optimistic at present, its going to be a long and hard recovery.

Thanks to all for their support, i've had calls from the guys at the league as well as other clubs, which really lifted my spirits, and my good mate Des, who was taking pics, actually caught the sequence of pics when it happened, which i summoned up the guts to look at last night, and i can tell you, its not pretty. Thanks again Des, and to everyone that has sent messages of support, very much appreciated.

              Terrible news.

All the best Pekay, we'll have to start calling you Eduardo by the sounds of it.

Hope you can get out on the park again at some stage mate. Good to know that even laid up in hospital with a shocking injury like this you're able to post on here

You got that right. Though by the sound of it, they are of great interest to the medical staff at Westmead!! Probably the best sequence of shots I got on Saturday, ironically.

Rest up mate, and get your coaching voice warmed up for Sunday!!!!

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

You clearly love your footy, Pekay- all the best with getting back on the field. Just think of those lovely physio sessions you have to look forward to!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Good luck with the recovery. I hope the hospital spongebaths help numb the pain. There's probably easier ways to meet fun-loving nurses straight out of uni though.

Mate - I'm more of a passive reader of this forum (though we have played against each other) - but just a quick post to wish you a full and speedy recovery...and fingers crossed you'll be kicking a footy again in the future!
