Dominating performance from the universities in the lower grades, occupying 7 of 8 grand final spots (not to mention 1, potentially 3, out of 6 in the higher grades).

    My flag tips:

    Div 2 - UTS
    Div 3 - UNSW/ES
    Div 4 - USYD
    Chal 18s - USYD

    Prem - ECE
    Div 1 - ECE
    Prem 18s - North Shore

C'mon, UTS isn't a real University. Just a name change a few years ago to make them feel important

If UTS wins Div 2, it'll make it interesting to see what happens with promotion and relegation for next season.
If the Bats don't go up into Premier Division, they'll already have a team in Div 1, so their Div 2 team can't be promoted. Maybe St George would survive in Div 1 after all.

They may still drop St George, or leave them and add both Power & Mac Uni up to Div 1 and increase the size of the comp without adding the bye...

St George U/18s are strong, will they be too old for U/18's next and end up playing 1sts or Reserves?

That would be a strong case to leave the reserves side where it is...

shh you are wrong there. UTS was started from scratch back in 1999. it was started by a few guys who went away and played uni games for UTS and wanted to keep playing together so they formed a club. They had one side in there first year back in the old division 2 which they won the first year in it. they have continued to grow ever since. So u might need to get ya facts correct before you post factless posts that you dont know the truth about

I was talking about calling it a University ! I went there in the 70s'. It was a "tech" then. Was a place for desperates that couldn't get into Uni's because of lack of brains and mostly money.

Well done to the Bats, good culture and a successful club...but will never produce a rocket scientist, queens council or surgeon general.

In 1988 I think it changed its name to UTS from NSWIT. In 1990 I was the only student in the whole uni to put my name down to play aussie rules ... so they have come a long way.

                        Uni's or Local Football Clubs

Whoa....What's the tension about being a "Uni" football club.
From my experience none of the Uni clubs are real Uni clubs; where the majority of players are current or past players like in Vic or SA. UTS are a great club with a strong culture but not because of the Uni, like Uni Blues in the VAFA.
Ex pat Vic, Tassie, SA and WA players love the Uni club because of the facilities.

P.S. for those smart enough I posted this reply on a previous forum by mistake

Every player in the Sydney Uni u/18's side is still at High School ... scattered to all corners of the city ... but lets not go there!

                            Same as every other year.

What do you expect when you've got 73,000 players to choose from.

                              DLH - incorrect.

Tom Wills was right, from Mac Uni point of view the number of students that play with us directly because of the uni may be 5%. We have to actively drive membership and do this via culture and location (just like your Club I presume) and manage PD clubs who take the cream (and rightly so as guys wnt to play in the highest level they can). Hence why we pursue continual improvement in our club.

Inner city uni's may be different, but i can not quote their student membership (but would suggest it may be higher, possibly off set by interstate players who generally prefer to reside near sydney city as opposed to suburbs)
