I'm with you champion, having played at Bruce Perser this year, it's just a club you'd want to play for. THe culture is great, they have a million volunteers and it's a great atmosphere to play footy. Players went there mainly because they wanted to follow a coach, plus they recruited in some key positions, name a club that doesn't do that, other players went this year because they wanted to play with their mates.
Bert is right, other clubs should strive to get to their level, most clubs do nothing to support their junior clubs and better their club off the field. SOme you'd even say it serves them right for sitting on their asses for so long.

Obviously you have been brought up in a Sydney AFl background...(probably not a local)..I never said NOT change clubs....You guys have a population of what 5m say (500,000) afl and you have your presidents and coaches trying to screw other clubs....Fine on the field but.....you keep doing it of...AND guess what...you'll ruin your own competition...OR AS I SAID CLUBS WILL FOLD...Leave a comment:

I reckon you'd be lucky to name 30 players in the competition who have changed clubs.
Given this is a ten team competition with over 250 players playing, I'd reckon that's not too bad a percentage.Leave a comment:

Must admit im confused - who is trying to fold a poor club and who is the poor club that people seem intend on seeing the demise off?Leave a comment:

So it is...But from what I gather and the people I talk to in Sydney AFL...And can reference back to on your own Website...UNDER CLEARANCES..seems sydney Clubs and Coaches prefer to drag???persuade????persue???? LIE TOO??? players in other teams in the same comp....So my point is if its as state league find good players state wide....Why bother trying to FOLD a poorer club by taking there players.....Cause it is happening and THAT dosnt happen here!!!!
Have you ever been anywhere outside of Sydney? Doesnt seem so - leave the special comments to people who know what they are talking about championLeave a comment:

Wow a post from Doormat without insulting Pekay. Theres a first.... If the Eagles are the best run club with the most money, then good on them. We should all be aspiring to make our clubs better.Leave a comment:

Doormat, can you tell me which of the 4 receive payments and which of the U18s receive payments?Leave a comment:

No speculation great one. of the 5 locals (3 are not real locals) 4 receive match payments to play & they pay a couple of the the 18's also.
& as for MS16 he i'm sure would get paid also.
Do you know anything about any of the clubs in Sydney or are you feeding off speculation? Which club are you from, or will you hide behind your username?
5 guarantees?? Fitton is a local, i checked an old footy record with an interview, Johnston is from their 18s, and i didn't include Dimery who is a Baulko junior as MS16 alluded to. So yes, i am for real, a third of their team is local, pretty good in a state league up here. And Penno would be similar if not better, St George i'd imagine the same. Whats your problem with East Coast, you seem bitter??Leave a comment:

Having played my fair share of footy I think I am in a good position to provide comment on the old "MONEY" topic. Albeit slightly biased I feel it is still a valid opinion.
From my inside knowledge the following is correct on the premisership list from Saturday.
Local Players: (my definition of locals are blokes who played at U18 level)
Ben Physick
Rowan Bilkey
Jack Dimmery
Daniel Spiteri
Brad Ure
Ryan Fitton
Ben Rogers
Michael Johnston
Players who moved from interstate and were mates of players playing at ECE at the time:
Jon Vlatko - played footy with Ben Physick in SA
Ryan Smyth - played with Vlatko
Kristian Pearson - played with Smyth
Aaron Byerlee - played against Ben Physick and mates outside footy
Michael Sankey - I went to School with Jason Coulloupas
Coach & Players who followed the coach:
Glenn Garner
Ben Bourke
Mark Maher
Mark Skuse
Ed Wilson (played with Garner at St.George)
Coming from Victoria following the coach is very common. Players generally follow the coach because they believe they get the best out of themselves under him or they are not happy that he left and or with his replacement. They may also go because he is coaching a better club and they may be a better chance to play in a GF.
Congratulations to UNI on a fantastic year. They are a great bunch of blokes on and off the ground and to make the GF after getting pumped by 19 goals in the 1st final was a massive effort. A special mention to my mate Loopy. Wish you were still with us brother.
Some people on this forum need to get over this "money talks" crap. It's just an excuse for those who came up short. To have a crack at clubs because their players are not locals is ludicrous. How could I be local when i moved from VIC. Should I have not played because i'm not a local? Same as players from UNI who live close by and it is an easy choice??
At the end of the day we celebrated the flag like nothing else. As 22 mates who are now bonded for life. I'm proud to be an ECE premiership player. You can't buy what i won!Leave a comment:
