Ex Balmain player severely injured v UNSW/ES at Drummoyne, does anyone know how he ended up after his accident/incident? I was just browsing through old threads back from 2003, sounded nasty, I remember the coverage it got, but don't recall reading about his recovery.

I was at Balmain when Simon was injured and was involved in organising his fundraising which all clubs across the NSW/ACT AFL supported overwhelmingly culminating in a Benefit Dinner with guests such as Kevin Sheedy, Dipper, Paul Roos, Adam Goodes, Michael O'Loughlin, Bill Harrigan, Ben Darwin and others.
I think Troy Garner added this review from Simon's mum on RWO
Simon Meyer Night - Report. - RedandWhiteOnline (RWO) Messageboard
Simon is now living in Perth and is still facing amazing challenges every day even now we are 6.5 years on.
He came to my wedding a couple years back with his brother Paul who also played for the Tigers at the time. Paul is now in Chicago playing for the mighty Chicago Swans who have won the Mid American Australian Football League the last 3 years running.
Seeing as there is some interest in Simon still I will get an update from his mum and post it here.
If anyone needs any further info then feel free to contact me.Comment

Hi Again All,
I have created a Simon Meyer group on facebook related to the release of the DVD from the Benefit Dinner that was held on 13th Feb 2004.
Chances are if you played for Penno, East Coast, Manly or any other of the clubs back in 2003 you would have heard of this event and maybe even attended.
Please check out the group and there is a promo video of the DVD that also appears. Log into facebook and search for "Simon Meyer Benefit Dinner - Now on DVD".
Its worth a look and maybe worth relaying this information to your clubs. If your club has a facebook group, I will be messaging you with a request to join the group in the near future.Comment
