                  Going back to the mid 70's, Mark McClure became a pretty handy player with Carlton when he was signed straight from East Sydney.

                    Mark Maclure - Carlton 243 games from 1974 - 1986 - over 300 goals - Carlton Captain 1986 - tripple premiership player 1979 , 1981 , 1982 - Victorian State Rep 1977 1980 - Carlton Leading Goal Kicker 1977 & 1985 - inducted to Carlton Hall of Fame 1995.

                    Whilst portrayed as a Sydney boy in the media he was a Western Australian living and playing footy in Sydney due to his Navy father posted here during the Vietnam War.

                        Im not disagreeing and this is exactly what the AFL did at the time and reinforced it when the Swans relocated.
