    No Pay!!! No PLAY

Ive been having a pretty good look at the Sydney AFL website (all clubs) over the last 2 weeks, I notice this as a very common saying...REGO IS DUE FELLAS...by Rnd 1 $$$$ or No Pay...No Play..... I actually wonder how often this comes into play? Never.... Is it just sydney footy as to why clubs hound players 2 months before pre-season for money . Then the whole season? Why dont the wankers that write this for each club GO find some way that players can at least get to Rnd 6 (qualified) and then pressure them. I dont believe that writing that on a website makes anyone pay? Cause at round 1 if your president stated that NO-ONE has payed, so we are forfeiting, it wouldnt happen, the coach would win????and writefully so. Reason I say is that where AFL really counts we are blessed they get payed, and they pay there rego or if they dont pay, they get told to F... OFF.. Just wonder whether it could be done another way in sydney?????

And YES the WANKERS need to band together !! cause all the NSW/AFL committee hanfers on.I ask why dont you propose the association supports the clubs for the first ???? say 6 weeks..Stop the pressure on clubs early... Then make payment installemts? If necessary.......... Im interested.cause sydney seems so different

I wonder sometimes whether a "no play no pay" edict should be sent by email to players who haven't coughed up the cash yet rather than published on a website for all to see. If the club's policy is that they won't play anyone who hasn't paid their fees, that's a private matter between the club and the player.
But other than that, players should know the club's rules on it - and if the club wants the player to pay their fees before the season starts, that's up to them. If a player is in financial trouble and has trouble coming up with the money, most reasonable clubs could make an arrangement - but such players would probably be in the minority.

Question RM - the problem you have is that many players get to round 6 or so, have received full Club attire, the Club has paid the relevant monies to Insurance, AFL etc, then disappear. Do you know how many players "register" for a Club and never pay?

Remember most Clubs expenses occur at the start of the season too (attire/apparel & AFL fees & insurance). The AFL can only help with the AFL fees component (which they do already by staggering payments monthly over the year), possibly, and just possibly, the insurance side in "financing these payments until Rd 6 as you suggest.

So, I dont know what the AFL can do otherwise here?

Many Clubs work on the basis of requiring fees up front (different to "no pay, no play") and are more than happy to utilise payment arrangements where guys can not pay up front, it sure happens at our Club and there is no ill will regarding it. Different financial situations impact us differently. I suppose it is a fine balance.

        Stupid Thread

Remember Me, with respect this is a stupid thread.

Sydney Footy is no different from the AMO's in Vic with regrad to player subs.

Come on surely you think of something more interesting than players fees!

How pissed were you when you wrote that load of tripe?

The AFL does stagger payments but at the end of the day clubs which run on the smell of an oily rag require the membership/rego fees paid just to survive.

As for other state most blokes that I see come to our club from interstate generally ask what the rego is and when is it due and pay in full with very little problem becuase they know what the score is.

As for giving blokes the option to pay in installments thoughout the season its a bad idea unless the player has approached you and explained their situation - most people have plenty of money to drink piss after the games and put through pokies or at the tab so why should they put themselves ahead of their club.

I dont know if you have kids but the amount of rego that we pay in sydney is pretty good value if you compare it to what parents pay for kids sports and activities.

I suspect that if all Sydney senior clubs strictly enforced a "no pay, no play" policy a number of them would be very short of numbers, to the point of forfeits probably, especially early in the season.

Obviously Remember Me spent a little to much on christmas pressies for the family and is struggling for coin. Most people associated with footy clubs know that this time of year is always a struggle in regard to finances. Most sponsorship money has not arrived yet and their are a lot of outgoings that need to be paid before the commencement of the season. Most proffessional clubs arrange a payment plan over a couple of weeks with players that might struggle to pay it off in one hit. Might be worth having a chat to your football operations man Remember Me!

And as JYD is not from UNSW-ES, I would suggest taking what he says about the club (or former club members) with a grain of salt.

I have now realized why the SFL is the laughing stock of "THE REAL AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL COMPETITION" I asked a simple question.... REGO IS DUE FELLAS...by Rnd 1 $$$$ or No Pay...No Play..... I actually wonder how often this comes into play?Plus I answered a little myself from what i have been reading. But it surely shows that all you guys are just out to bag, disagree, humiliate, people on this site. I would really like to know who on here has in any way been associated with a successful SENIOR AFL club...None yet you all know everything??? Thats why SFL is the worst competition in Aust... And 2 more statements...I told you guys about cresswell...then I got blocked..Go back read it....I got bagged but was right...and the last!! JD you wish we new one another. Come down to Sandringham one day and run a league and we may meet???

In my career it came into play only about 3 times out of 20 seasons ... needs a strong coach & a strong committee to actually enforce & have it communicated properly ...

Shouldn't be designed as a mere money grab but explained & itemised to players that they get about $1,000 worth of benefits for a fraction of the cost including playing gear, tape, footballs, coaches, trainers, insurance (albeit quite low) and non-monetary benefits such as fitness and mateship.

I agree that the players shouldn't have to pay ... but until they bring people themselves to the club - be it sponsors, paying supporters, etc that can pay for these costs (eg as happens at AFL level & elite leagues around the country) then unfortunately the costs need to be shared across the board. The backing of a licenced club seems to have worked in the past for clubs that I am aware of (thinking Cairns & ACT leagues plus Wests).
