    St George

I just noticed that of the 22 that played for st george seniors on the weekend against Campbelltown, 20 were local juniors, i wonder if that is some sort of record for a Premier Division team?.

A fantastic effort for a club rebuilding itself from the ground up and a lot of credit must go to Brendan Donohue, John Addison and the committee.

Good stuff and a recipe for success. Committee appears to be doing lots of things right, especially with their junior/18's in getting surplus players games with Moorebank/Power etc. And of course, really appreciative that they were very enthusiastic about getting their guys a run against Penrith on Saturday in the 18's with both teams having a bye.

      Congratulations, super effort that!

        a few well worn cliche's

"were are here for the kids"

"lets keep a lid on things"

"we will take it one week at a time"

"we are happy with the 4 points"

"its a long season, lets not get ahead of ourselves"

Maaaaaate, its all good. The boys are wrapped with the way things are going in the club. There are 37 U18s trying to get a game with the Dragons and with a range of standards it is no easy task. Keep on improving as the season goes on and whatever happens happens. A few wins is good after the struggles of last year.

There seems to be a good spirit in the St George camp - and even when they got pumped in their first 3 games it was still there. And it's served them well during their winning streak.
As Shearer mentioned, virtually all of the squad are local juniors; and the club have done a great job with rebuilding the team. They'll be a team to watch in the next few years - and any success that may come their way will have been well earned and a good reward for the effort that's been put in.

ShortHalfHead mentioned it already, but an example of the spirit in the club was that the under 18s, at short notice, travelled out to Penrith for a scratch game. It meant the club was split into playing at 3 venues for the day, and no premiership points were on the line for the under 18s - but to get a full team and support staff together to do a long road trip with only a couple of days' notice is something that a lot of other clubs would struggle to do.

yeah , the hit out for the 18's was good for all involved. The young Saints were bolstered by a few

Under 16's. Saints also sent 4 kids off to play with Moorebank and Power to help them out. The

agreement with the CC clubs is working well. This week 3 1st choice 18's have been promoted to

Ressies for experience and to strengthen the side. Guthrie is playing Swans ressies and Cooper doing

              well at GWS.

3 tough games against the students this weekend (fingers crossed on the weather)

Hopefully we continue to make steady progress

Game was actually played at Harrington Park, where Saints 2nds were playing at 2:10. There was a spot available at 10:00 AM and thanks to Camden, they hosted the game. Could have understood if Saints didn't want to play, as they had played the six previous weekends and having a rest would have been neither here nor there to them. Penrith, however, had only played two games and were desperate for a hitout. After two forfeits, two byes and a transferred match to be played in June, I hope that rain doesn't stop them playing their third comp game tomorrow

It is a fantastic effort. I doubt its a record though. Pennant Hills also played with 20 local juniors on the weekend by the look of it.
